How to get a story on the front of Yahoo |
|
I'm always seeing posts in here asking people to rate up a story in Yahoo by voting it a 5. Although this is easy and can make you feel good for doing it, it does little to boost a story to the top of Yahoo, because every time you vote a 5, a freeper can vote a 1.
Look at the Yahoo front page. On the right side of the page at the bottom of the "In the News" box, right next to the word "News," is the word "Popular." This takes you to the most popular news stories which, if you notice, are the MOST EMAILED stories.
Yahoo gives frequently emailed stories higher precedence than stories that are voted up. So, to get your story high in the Yahoo popularity ratings, EMAIL IT! After you vote a story you want noticed a "5," email it to everyone you know. Not only does this get the story on the first "most popular" page, but freepers can't vote against a frequently emailed story. What are they going to do, not email it?
Now, who wants to suggest a Yahoo story that needs to be emailed?

5. I don't think we need to get that complicated |
|
Just use the yahoo link to email the story to any friends or relatives you think might be interested. Remember, use the link instead of doing the easier copy-and-paste of the address bar.

Does it count every email address it's sent to, or the number of times it's sent individually?
In other words, if we created a database/webpage for DU'ers to enter their emails into and another webpage to display those emails, could we just copy them all into the TO: textbox and hit send and have it count as X number of times it's been emailed?
Or do we have to enter one email, hit send, enter another email, hit send, etc?
