New Religious "Compound" under construction in Texas
RELIGION TODAY: Construction of compound causes apprehension, curiosity

ELDORADO, Texas (AP) - With the legal heat rising against its leader in Arizona and Utah, a splinter group of polygamous Mormons is hurriedly building a new community in sparsely populated West Texas. But the arrival of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - marked by a temple tower rising out of the rocky terrain and prickly pear cactus - has been about as welcome among locals as a new species of rattlesnake.

3. Polygamy is illegal, even in Texas. Why don't the authorities
shut these law-breakers down?

7. Texas is in itself
a religious fundamentalist compund. These guys are merely building a sub-division. Methinks the Baptists are afraid...

8. I think you are correct and it is too funny
that the state that brought you *, Delay, Cornyn, and all those other moral midgets should get bent out of shape over a few polygamists. You reap what you sow.

11. Remember, Texas had a strong democratic party before the criminals.
Before they raised a ton of illegal money, knocked the dems out and then changed the rules.

Im not saying Texas is an ideal state. But like America, the worst tendencies are brought about by systematic economic and political corruption.

12. I met a lot of liberals in Texas.
I felt even comfortable talking politics. What happened?

Was the Dukedom of Boosh that effective in driving them all underground?
