Marine complains that Coulter insulted him when she spoke at KU last week.
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 02:09 PM by tblue37
This is a LTTE that was published in the Lawrence Journal-World today. You may recall that Ann Coulter spoke here last week:

http://ljworld.com/section/letters/story/201118

During the Q&A session after her talk, one man asked her how she defends her support for the war in Iraq, since so many Americans and Iraqis have died because of the invasion, even though, as everyone now knows, there were never any WMDs, Saddam wasn't in any way connected to 9/11, and the invasion was based on lies.

Coulter insulted him and said he was even stupider than she thought--her typical form of "debate" with someone who doesn't agree with her. Remember now, he wasn't one of the hecklers. He was just asking a legitimate question during the designated Q&A period after the talk.

Well, it turns out he is a Marine vet, and his wife a Navy vet. Both were insulted and vilified by Coulter's supporters in the audience, and he, of course, was directly insulted by the Queen Bitch herself.

Here is his LTTE:
Veteran support?
Wednesday, April 6, 2005

To the editor:

My wife and I, both veterans of the U.S. military, found out the truth about Republican support for veterans at Ann Coulter's lecture last Tuesday. After I, a former Marine infantry sergeant, asked Coulter how she defended her promotion of the war, based on lies, which has sent 1,500 of my brothers and sisters to their deaths and 100,000 Iraqis to their graves, she responded that, "you're even stupider than I thought." This received an abundance of applause from the party that claims to "support our troops."

At the same moment, several Republicans hurled obscenities at my wife, a Navy veteran, and one threatened her with physical violence, stating he would kick her in the head if she didn't "shut up," when she was asking Coulter a question. The Republican Party claims to "support the troops," but who qualifies as a "troop"? Is the "troop" label only legit when we agree with the Republican stance, even if that "troop" has served in uniform bravely and selflessly for four years?

This is the manner in which the Republican Party treats its veterans that disagree with them. They threaten them with violence and call them names like "stupid," "f-ing bitch," or "idiot," all of which were hurled at my wife and I at Coulter's talk, despite our service to this nation. Ask yourselves this question, Lawrence: Why do you think they need to attack free-thinking veterans?

Chris White,
Lawrence

I want to pack every last one of them off to the military. I want to see them right in the thick of the fighting with no armored vehicles, no body armor, crappy old Vietnam era M16's, bad gasoline for their Hummvee's and depending on Halliburton for supplies.

68. Or even good gasoline would be fine with me
Putting gasoline into the diesel-powered HMMWV would cause their little Repug asses to have to walk back through the middle of fucking Fallujah.

The results would be even more fun than when Bruce Willis walked through Harlem wearing a sandwich board with a racist slogan painted on it in "Die Hard With A Vengeance."

19. They tried to do that at the GOP Convention. . .
and the responses were amazing. Several of the chicken-hawks said they could serve our fighting forces better by staying in politics (much like the current crop of Republicans who cut benefits and combat pay for the fighting men now). Others claimed that they would like to serve but are not physically able (like Pat Buchanan who jogs every day but couldn't serve in Vietnam because of "knee problems"). One did promise to serve when he could make a difference but didn't explain what that meant.

Being a Republican means convincing others to make sacrifices on your behalf. In other words: "Ask not what you can do for your country; ask what you can get from your country."

"Is the "troop" label only legit when we agree with the Republican stance, even if that "troop" has served in uniform bravely and selflessly for four years?"

Well, yeah. If it wasn't obvious to him before, it should be now.

As for the actual question, as to how Coulter supports the war, he got his answer to that, too. She supports people who agree with her and her kind, and vice versa. Her kind supported the war, and that they got caught lying to us is simply irrelevant.

Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 02:20 PM by Stand and Fight
I've had the same vitrol hurled at me by a Republican here at work. He said I was too much of a Democrat and not much of an American, and that I wan't patriotic. I lost my cool and said to him, "Don't you dare -- who the hell are you to question my patriotism?"

He sqawked, "Don't point you finger at me, buddy."

I retorted, "I served this dammed country for five years of my life and put off two full-ride scholarships, so don't you dare tell me I'm not patriotic, creep."

He stammered and said, "Well, I didn't mean that... You just don't see things because you're so partisan..."

I didn't want to hear anymore, so I cut him off and snapped, "I don't care to hear anything else you have to say. You're just another example of the ignorance that affects America. You're screwing this country and your children's futures right along with Bush." and then exited the room.

The nerve of these people!

45. It's pretty bad though...
My boss and 2 of my other co-workers are hard-core Republican fools. The newest person to our group is a weak Democrat -- young and unaware, but a Democrat nonetheless. I cannot even stand to talk to them most of the time. My boss looks like Hastert -- I kid you not. The other one is an Evangelical idiot. The smartest of them -- an athiest -- will not heed the facts that Bush lied about going to Iraq... *sigh* Great disappointment. Either way, I have been withdrawing from them, but occasionally they say some absolutely stupid shit and I cannot help but speak out. And yes, it is a most "hellacious" working environment. (I'm politically active in the community to make it worst. I attended a peace protest last month. Have been elected a delegate to the State and District conventions for the Democratic party. I'm also the chair of several committees -- to include Public Relations and Marketing -- in my County... I still have my Kerry-Edwards sticker on my car. A calender of Bushisms hangs in my cubicle next to another Kerry-Edwards sticker and various quotes. As you can well imagine I make them very nervous -- especially since they know I've high political ambitions.

46. I do wish I could say the same...
However, I'm in Oklahoma, and the Republicans are relentless in their subservient stupidity and willful ignorance in regards to the one called Bush, Part Deux... :eyes: It is shocking that they will realize the inconsistencies of their party and their president, acknowledge that he's made some mistakes without realizing that they are only spouting off right-wing talking points. They still cannot tell me where and who the liberal media is, exactly how it is that Kerry volunteering for dangerous duty -- twice -- makes him unpatriotic and Bush more so because he used connections to duck out of active duty... It is a mad, mad world we live in, but I love America, and I will fight to my dying breath to restore our country to its rightful place and help in ushering us out of the dark wilderness of ignorance and spitefulness.

The Army and Marine Corps recruiters need you. They are behind quota and need you to serve in our armed forces.

Remember young repubs, if you enlist in the Army, be sure to ask for MOS 11B. If you're going into the Marines, ask for MOS 0311. Either of these MOSs will ensure that you get right to where the action is at.

52. i was hoping someone
I go to school at KU, but didn't go to the Coulter speech (can't stand the ignorant bitch.) As I understood it from an article in the University Daily Kansan, there was a small group of peaceful protesters standing outside the building with a sign that had Coulter's famous "we should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity" quote. There were also a few people yelling at her when she was speaking, one of which was removed from the building. Of course all of the college Republicans were screaming "liberal bias" after the story was printed (I guess b/c the story was not sympathetic enough to the "innocent" Coulter.) This is an editorial that was in the Kansan today:

http://www.kansan.com/stories/2005/apr/06/opinion_perspectives_fray/

I just love it how they always make it look like Democrats are the evil, haters of America, while Coulter's hate spewing is viewed as an "open exchange of ideas." How can calling people stupid when they ask a question even remotely be considered an open exchange of ideas? Oh yeah, here is the original story that all of the Republicans were whining about b/c of its "liberal bias". Can someone please tell me where the bias is?

55. To me
when they use "liberal bias" it's just a way for them to hide and get off easy and claim they didn't really do anything and play victim and look innocent like they didn't really do this to this young man who is a veteran and make Coulter look bad. If you think about it it really is quite a smart plan on them. If it wasn't for this myth they wouldn't be here in power and haven't lasted this long.

Mr. and Mrs. White, you are both heroes
and you have learned the hard way that Repukes are sick, twisted, brainwashed freaks who claim moral superiority yet will curse a woman in a heartbeat, and call a Vet stupid.

Yes, my friends, we have been overrrun by evil, and it supports the GOP.

58. Horrible.
I'm surprised ANY military personnel whatsoever support the Shrub regime anymore. They have been horribly abused by this administration, and the talking heads who spew its fascist ideology.

Truly sickening.

For some reason, I highly doubt it.

66. Why do people give this bitch entertainer the time of day.
Leave her to her unhappiness and maybe, just maybe she'll go away.
These are sick fucking people who believe their view of the world is the only view and if you don't agree with them you are the enemy. No one said it better than bush*, 'you're either with us or against us'. Well I'm firmly against these assholes. Fuck you AC.
