Can any Southern DUers help me locate a governor? |
|
(Doesn't have to be a Southern DUer, but that's the region in question.)
I read somewhere many moons ago of a Southern governor who was dared by his staff and others to urinate on a visiting governor of New York. Evidently he rose to the dare and did the deed.
I do not know if newspapers would even cover such an event, but I have heard of accounts that it happened and wondered if anybody on DU can point me toward the names of the two governors involved -- both the urinator and the urinatee.
There is a red state/blue state theme to this and I was trying to find an account of the event.
Anyone with any info at all, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

1. would this be during reconstruction? |

Sometimes it's hard to find much on internet about events that occurred before internet.
I'd ask a "cool" local librarian. You can usually tell which ones get a kick out of looking up controversial or funny issues. She could at least give you an idea of where to start.
The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists and other subversives. We intend to clean them out, even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country. --John Mitchell, US Attorney General 1969-72

3. You are so right on that before-the-web info, amazona. |
|
I may have to get a "cool" librarian, as you suggest.
There may be some around, too -- I love librarians. They were among the first and most vocal to oppose Ashcroft's insane Patriot Act.
I have tried typing in key words for this search on Google and Alta vista, but as you can imagine, I get something QUITE different from the political info I'm after.
Oh well. I'll keep trying.
Thanks for the response and good suggestion.

Pataki's still fuming.
(Seriously, I don't know the answer, nor have I ever heard this story. :kick:)

4. Hi, Tummler. LOL at your post. |
|
Kinda true, too.
And sad.
Can I be allowed to be homesick for a liberal New Englander like Dukakis even if he lost the election to Poppy?
Part of it is my blanket dislike of Poppy, I admit. But a big part is also a yearning to have a liberal in the White House again.
Why can't the world conform to my expectations!?! WHY!?!
