11. So you only like him when he's at a funeral?
Or do you simply suspend the hatred until after it's over? Or what?

12. We will hate him at a Wake, we will hate him on a cake, we will
hate him on the loo, we will hate him boo hoo hoo.

Buddy when somebody tries to dismantle your way of life.. you are entitled to feel revulsion towards this person. And we cannot just turn on and off our feelings. They are there because of what we have experienced of him. He is in the public eye.

If only the people who had a true & deep emotional connection to the pope were allowed to watch, Bush would not be there himself. We do not believe he is devout. He does not walk the walk. Still he was there as a head of state. I felt affection for Karzei, I wanted to kiss the buddist priest, I love look at the queen of Jordan because she does good works and educates her country on women's issues. I felt revulsion when I saw Bush too.

Wake up! This is who your President is. He is a hated man because he teaches and spreads hate.

17. Very poignant. I especially loved to see all the religious men/women
of the world together. That made me want to tear up. (But I didn't quite).

I have real personal feelings on a pope who does not allow for reproductive rights (I mean birth control & safe sex especially). But yeah - as a pope he did do some good. To change things.

19. Yes, it was very poignant
I disagreed with him about many things but still to see so many people united with sadness for someone who really was a good person really is touching.

18. I thought it was amusing that
Dubya and Missus sat BEHIND the King and Queen of Belgium, the King and Queen of Spain, the Queen and Prince Consort of Denmark - I guess it just broke the news to Georgie that he's NOT royalty after all......

Also he was only a couple of seats away from Robert Mugabe - I wonder if they compared notes on election-stealing ???

guess that Carter snub came home to roost!
as a non practicing catholic i will tell you i disagreed with many of the policies and i didnt always agree with this pope..i wont go into all that..but i will say..i was just in tears for the man..not the church, but for the poles who he freed from communism, for the people of the world who this man touched..and i thought.. look at all these world leaders..and the only form of weapons was a bell and a man of peace...

and my heart broke in tears...why must it take a bell and a dead pope for men to stand side by side and not lift a weapon of any kind?
not a treat of wars, and why not this kindness every day for all of man kind?

POPE JOHN PAUL2 was a man of peace..he left a peace, i only hope the men left behind could honor that peace...

god bless you Pope John Paul , may you rest in peace, you taught us peace and you left us with a peace today on earth.

you served god well.not perfect , but well , that can never be questioned.
we will miss you dearly.

rest at gods side.

21. Really ?? Even better !!!
I wonder if he got any bad vibes being so close to an Axis of Evil.....

I too was saddened when JP2 died - it was heartbreaking to see that strong and vibrant man reduced to an alert mind in a shell of a body in his last years. He deserves to be honored and remembered warmly because he touched so many lives......RIP

In a Newsweek WEB EXCLUSIVE
By Richard Wolffe and Holly Bailey
Newsweek
Updated: 12:44 p.m. ET April 7, 2005

on the MSNBC website is their column titled Presidents and the Pope:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7420076/site/newsweek /

Page 2 - last paragraph:

<snip>

"That account barely grasps the extent of the Holy See’s opposition to the war in Iraq, as Clinton suggested in his own unsubtle way. But just in case President Bush has forgotten, there’s another reminder of his tensions with the pope at the funeral on Friday. The president and his delegation occupy a worse seating position at the funeral than the Iranians.

23. Thank you for the link - I hadn't read that before
- it just shows I guess that the fools running the US just don't care what anyone thinks of them - they're right and nothing else matters. No pride, no self-respect - and 59-odd million people agreed with them........

Dumbya, to himself..."'gotta be seen with the dead guy in the funny hat, there's a lot of voters think this guy was somethin' special. Not as special as ME of course. Hey, why'm I sittin behind all of these terraists? They'll pay for this, big time. I got enough bombs to blow them ragheads to kingdom come. I'm 'gonna tell mama, she'll set these bastards straight. I should be right in front row, by the dead guy. How else are the cameras 'gonna see how grieved I am? Hey, over here, here I am! Maybe I oughta' get me one of them funny hats. Do they sell beer here? I could sure use a snort. This presidentin' stuff is hard work."

When there's an international non-political event where there's royalty hierarchy heritage. Some Brit help me here: wasn't the US rep seated behind all of the royalty at Prince Charles and Diana's wedding? Like, the King of Tonga, etc? gigglegigglegiggle

28. I saw a close up of Junior on CBS this morning about 5:15 AM
His face was partially obstructed by someone standing on his right. He knew the camera was there and deliberately stepped forward to capture the center of the camera shot. I almost puked and thought "that asshole, he'll do anything to be the center of attention."
