I don't like my President being booed
Don't get me wrong, it was great to hear about Bush being booed. I was there right by their sides in spirit.

But at the same time it makes me sad.

Sort of the mirror of how Clinton was so loved, how they just wanted to touch him and see him. He made us proud unlike this jerk.

...next time, we actually elect someone President rather than letting some hayseed steal the office.

Not detested. There was a time, not so long ago, when a visit by an American President brought out admiring crowds not riot police.

I'd like to be a nation admired much as the Italians were 'admired' in 1945 for their approach to "change of leadership" ...

32. Exactly
It's not our fault. We shouldn't feel ashamed really. On one hand I do because I miss feeling proud of my country and the leader of the country but Bush and his people brought this on themselves. They only have themselves to blame and it does bring me comfort to know not everybody in this world buys his bullshit.

69. I went to school in Austria
during the Iranian hostage crisis, ande the early Reagan presidency.

When the hostage crisis went on and on and then the disastrous rescue mission, I got so manyquestions from amazed Austriuans and Germans -- "how canb Carter just let this go on? Will he never do anything"

It bothered me, and whether I agreed with him or not, I defended him because he was the president and I didn't like foreignors criticizing him.

Then I saw it even worse with Reagan. The giant marches and the "Nuclear nein danke" pins. I think Reagan was hated every bit as much as Bush is over there. Anyway, I defended him too.

and sadly, as a reflection of America, we get what we deserve.

Rigged or not, the people of the US voted this Chimp into office, and it was close enough that it COULD be rigged.

Sadly, we are getting what we deserve as a country, for not doing enough to stop this out of control, unacountable Administration.

The fact that just the sight of his face elicited boos from the crowd shows you how vulgar and vile he is to people.

And I'm glad they did it. If Americans don't have the balls to do it, then I'm glad some people do.

But, in theory, no. I don't want my country so universally despised by the rest of the world that they feel the need to voice their disapproval at a funeral. His policies have angered something like 80+% of the world's population. I hate when America uses its power to be a bully and a policeman. But if that's what we're going to do, then ** should expect anger.

intention to convey the sadness that our leader/our country has no respect in the world. This thread has nothing to do with *, and everything to do with grieving over what the American Presidency, the position, should represent.

Hope that made sense :)
