I just got this in an email- how should I respond?

On the surface, nothing wrong, but my bitch landlady insists on sending me her fundie crap over and over again. I know I need to move, but I don't have the money for it now and she lets me keep the dogs here(hard to find another place that will do that). How should I reply and not piss her off? I hate giving her money every month!! Like I said, she sends me stuff like this all the time. This one is tame compared to the rest.

Cry poor mouth, claim you are saving for a new computer but it will be awhile...Then inquire: Gee, was it anything important (appropriate simpering look of confusion at this point)? You do have my phone number, dear, do you not?

Think of the dogs, they need a comfortable home. And the passive agressive approach often works well when your options are constrained.

should probably not bother others....after all -- they didn't do anything to me. Now -- if someone directly writes and engages me in a debate -- I might reconsider, but for the most part, spam is spam is spam no matter who or where it comes from, and to me, it's just not worth the effort.

We have a e-list of all of the adult cousins on my hubby's side and he has some cousins who are pretty "out there" with their fundamentalist beliefs and a few months ago we got into two great debates about gay marriage and the war.... well -- somewhat debates -- they throwing the bible at my AMA, American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association and other organizations references which declassified homosexuality as "deviant" in the 70s. Then the list was "closed down" for a bit. It recently re-opened with the rule that no political or religious discussions were allowed. I never signed back up.

If your landlady is truly nuts, I hope that sometime soon you can move to a better place. It might take time, but start making an emergency fund just in case, if it's just with a few dollars each pay check. Once I had to move out of a place because our "nice" landlady turned out to be an alcholic and after she got agitated with something my roomate did, she started slamming doors, mumbling incoherently and waving a gun around.... that was the fastest I ever moved in my life.

Just politely ignore her. She may be a little wack-a-doo. If she mentions the emails, and asks if you're getting them, just say, "Yes, thanks for thinking of me."

I have acquaintances that send me stuff like that all the time. I basically just ignore it. I think they believe they are being thoughtful or helpful. I figure, no harm done, I can just delete it.

This is nothing compaired to what I usually get. The sad thing is, when she sends me this stuff, her e-mail list is as long as crap. And it's been forwarded tons of times. It's not just me that's getting the stuff. I wonder how many people she's influenced that don't know how to think for themselves.
