National Press Club Panel
I am not trying to bash Wonkette, but I do not think she did as great a job as some people claimed. I missed part of the rebroadcast of the National Press Club journalist/blogger round table, but I did see the NCLB exchange and the exchange at the end of the panel. From what I was hearing before I watched it she had just put the smack down on Gannon/Guckert. However, from what I saw it was not really a smack down. I will give her credit for going afer him when he tried to act like he really had "persevered" for such a long time. At first it seemed that no on would challenege him then she stepped up and asked him how long. However, that is not what I would consider a smack down. However, that is not what I consider a smack down she just made a good point in one instance and then challenged him on how long he waited to get a press pass. I contend the whold panel could have been tougher on him. Does anyone think the panel was a little worried about attacking him in that they might be called bullies later?

1. I saw the last five minutes on C-Span this morning and Gannon's...
...responses were that of a pathological liar who would and could say anything as extemporaneously and convincingly as a person who could never lie. The panel appeared totally astonished by this guy's remarks. Jeff Gannon is a very dangerous individual and by the very visible "Men in Black" watching Gannon, I think the panelists were more intimidated than anything else.

2. Did you see where Wonkette got in Guckert's face when he
said that he had to report the government's view on NCLB because no one was reporting it correctly? She did smack him down and tell him that the press secretary WAS giving out the message the Chimp wanted to report but that it was the job of the rest of them to question it - it is called reporting - not regurgitating government memos. I'm paraphrasing here but you get the gist - Jeffy Poo tried for 90 minutes to pretend he was a journalist, that he was a victim and that he actually knew what the hell he was talking about - he proved himself wrong on all counts. The old adage - Keep your mouth shut and be thought of as a fool or speak and remove all doubt was never more apropos as it was yesterday at the Press Club. Jeffy is a moronic moran (sic).

3. I think I just caught the tail end of her comment and then Gannon
...went into his total lying soliloquy. Someone asked Gannon how he got his press pass and Gannon replied, "I got it the old fashioned way, through persistence and hard work". What total bullshit. Then one of the lady panelists asked how long he spent in his persistence and Gannon first tried to a avoid a specific answer and replied "...quite a while", but when pressed by the same panelist quickly said "about a week", then just launched into a total barrage of one lie feeding of another lie until he ran the clock out! What a piece of shit performance of deflection tactics.
