2 former N.Y. cops charged as Mafia hit men

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Two former New York City police detectives face a federal court hearing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday after being indicted on murder charges for allegedly acting as hit men for the Mafia more than 20 years ago.

According to the indictment from a federal grand jury in Brooklyn that was unsealed Thursday, Stephen Caracappa and Louis Eppolito routinely passed confidential law enforcement information to the mob and killed rival gangsters.

The indictment alleges that the men's association with organized crime began in the early 1980s, when they started passing along information to high-ranking members and associates of the Luchese crime family, disclosing the identities of numerous cooperating witnesses and compromising several state and federal investigations.

Caracappa was a member of the New York Police Department's Organized Crime Homicide Unit, which he helped found. In his duties, he filled the role of gatekeeper for information about Mafia killings,The Associated Press reported.

Roslynn Mauskopf, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, described the men's actions as "a stunning betrayal of their shields, their colleagues and the citizens they were sworn to protect.

"For years, they were on retainer with the mob, they were paid handsomely for participating directly and indirectly in the murders and attempted murders of 11 individuals."

1. You purposely left off
the breaking news involving a comment that Hilary Duff made about one of the Bush twins being a nice camp counselor. Duff made this comment in the late summer of 2004, yet you insist on leaving it off. I think you have an agenda, and are trying to divert attention from the most important story to hit the fan in years.

2. Does it matter? MJ will get the most coverage anyhow
We don't really want to deal with cops which have gone bad. They are the good guys, remember?

Michael Jackson's career on the other hand is over anyhow and he looks guilty as well, so that's bound to get the most coverage.

3. But Nancy Grace spent an hour last night talking about Michael...
...Jackson having a monkey that throws poop against the wall and he even orders French fries at 3:00 am. Nice to see good old Nancy has her priorities straight.

<snip>GRACE: You live with a monkey in your room that poopies on the wall. You order French fries at 3:00 a.m. and you get them?

Give it up Nancy. You blow. Get out of my TV.

4. And I did smile after reading that
It's wasn't a real laugh and I was definitively not rolling on the floor but it did bring a smile on my face.

So Nancy was right - It's a lot better for the general audience.

That story about the pooping monkey (I don't have a pooping monkey) and the 3:00 am fries (I can't order fries at 3:00. There isn't even anything open that late) is much funnier then those cops which will only make people worried about the state of the world and then they start to question the government and the pResident and the war and become conspiracy idiots etc. etc.

6. I didn't post it to make you laugh
Its not all that funny. But it sure is sick to see what the American people think is important to them. Its what Nancy Grace and the rest of the media scum like her tell them is important. That is sad.

5. So we know from that,
that GWB spends some time residing with Michael Jackson. I'd say that's somewhat newsworthy.;-)
