FX Is Launching a TV Series About IRAQ
FX has ordered a pilot from Steven Bochco Prods. for a series set on the front lines of the conflict in Iraq.

"Over There" is an ensemble drama that will explore the lives of a select group of Army soldiers in combat as well as the families they left behind. Bochco will serve as executive producer with Chris Gerolmo ("Mississippi Burning"), who will direct the pilot he wrote.

The pilot marks the first collaboration between Bochco, the veteran producer of gritty series like "Hill Street Blues," and 20th Century Fox Television since he sued 20th several years ago over the syndication sale of "NYPD Blue."

I just saw a preview for this show on TV and it featured a female and male soldier in the desert relaxing, listening to music, and then all of a sudden bombs raining down on their heads resulting in total confusion & destruction.

I'm still not sure what to think about this. Will it be a pathetic pander project to the gung ho war mongers of America? Or will it try and show the realistic & emotional impact of war and in doing so, help America see this pointless destructive war for what it really is?

2. Well Fox TV doesn't = Fox News
I think I remember hearing that they donate more to Democrats. And besides, how Republican can a network be that continually puts on shows like 'The Simpsons' & 'Family Guy' that bash Fox News & Republicans constantly. :D

4. Not All Fox Is Faux
Check www.buyblue.org and you'll see NewsCorp actually donates more (just slightly) to Democrats than it does to Repugnicans. This is thanks to the Fox Television Network...which while cheap and trashy, also has some very liberal types, such as Matt Groening. There's very little Faux News on the Fox Network. Rupert knows that he makes money from both...so don't screw with it.

Brocho has done some pretty interesting work in the past, and FX is the network that still shows reruns of M*A*S*H, one of the most anti-war shows ever produced.

7. So they buy politicians on both sides. That's acceptable to Dems how?
That kind of money influencing politics today should not and must not trump the interests of the people.

3. I saw this several days ago on tv as well.
I wonder how it will go. I hope there is some attempt at realism. My brother, who was there for PGW-1, might have an opinion on that.

8. They ought to make it a reality show.
Get a bunch of Young Republicans to go through Special Forces training, and the lucky winner who makes the cut gets an all-expense-paid trip to a combat zone.
