SLAUGHTER'S GANNONGATE INVESTIGATION MOVES ON

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter made some headway last week in her battle to find out how a homosexual prostitute operating under an assumed name was able to get security clearance and attend White House press briefings on an almost daily basis for a period of two years.

James Dale Guckert, using the alias Jeff Gannon, was frequently called on by White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan and President George Bush during the briefings. He worked for a Republican Party front organization called Talon News.
In addition to lying about his name, Guckert also lied about his military background and his education. He claimed to be an ex-Marine and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University system, but records checks of those institutions have shown his claims to be false.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security wrote Slaughter to say they would begin compiling documentation on Guckert in order to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request she and Rep. John Conyers made six weeks earlier.

It's about time. Bush has not even dignified our congresswoman's query with a response, which tells you all you need to know about his feelings toward the state of New York. Still, Slaughter vowed to continue her investigation.
"While I remain deeply disappointed that the President and the White House continue to stonewall Congress and the American people by not providing any details on the nature of their relationship with this disgraced, discredited 'reporter,' I am pleased to see the Department of Homeland Security complying with our request for more information," Slaughter said. "Maybe now we will finally get to the bottom of this disgusting display of media manipulation."

1. Note that the story describes him as a "homosexual prostitute".
Why did they feel the need to use the adjective "homosexual"? Do they think that even more disqualifies him from entrance to the WH press pool? I say BS.

However, if adding "homosexual" makes 7 out of 10 of my state's residents nervous, then so be it.

It's just show he was a gay prostitute. I'm glad they're investigating this. How did he get in? I think either Rove through McClellan. I remember reading here how he (McClellan) would be seen in Texas gay bars. Does anybody know how McClellan got into the administration and the job?

8. I'm glad they're investigating this as well...
My criticism of the usage of words is based on this being a straight (no pun intended) news report. If this was a political statement, I might be more flexible because I know that some people think its a point re: hypocrisy.

My criticism should be considered an objective critique of the news report only.

25. In this case, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing
it only highlights even more the sheer hypocrisy of this administration. While being gay is not, in itself, an issue, this administration has made it an issue, in their outright war against gay people. I think their hypocrisy really should be exposed.

44. The WH certainly doesn't discourage that kind of thinking
in fact, it encourages it. That's kind of why I almost think it's a good thing it's there. It exposes their hypocrisy in what they say and then of course, what they do. They've run on the platform of being anti-gay, but they certainly aren't anti-gay if it suits their agenda. As I matter of fact, I have a feeling they're very much NOT anti-gay, in at least some of their personal lives.

It's not so much exposing their hypocrisy to us, who already know they're the biggest bunch of hypocrites on the planet. It exposes it to those RW'ers who actually do think of gays as a threat (and worse). This administration has fed on, and built up that hatred so much, that I'd love to see it exposed to the top of the administration. I don't think it'll ever happen, but I'd love to see one or two of those gay-bashing gay people in the WH caught with their pants down, so to speak.

29. i think it's relevant considering the nature of being a prostitute is
having access to "pillow talk" and the means to extort favors. add to that the gatekeeper to the press corps is male and rumored to be closeted -- i think it's very relevant. no one is faulting the guck for being gay -- he is under scrutiny AND his presence is under scrutiny because of the appeareance of impropriety. since we don't know the circumstances of his entré, everything should be on the table for discussion.

40. The reason to include homosexual is important in that it
points to possible romantic or "business" connections within the administration. If he was just a prostitute, it could mean he is a gigolo. There's not too many prominent women in this administration, and Scotty isn't one of them. Would Condi pull strings to get her gigolo into parties and press conferences?

Prostitute is a very broad term.

Of course, everyone knows how the GOP has attacked Gays
Doesn't matter to most that he was homosexual prostitute just matters that a prostitute had free and open excess to White Press, etc.

Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 09:35 AM by emad
bit.

For all those who have seen the UK litigation files that name George Bush Senior as Frank Gelli**, "Talon News" is particularly piquant.

Frank Gelli was always known in the MI6 counter-intelligence desk as "Killer Fang" - an anagram of the real name.....

**FG: Assassin of JFK at Dallas in November 1963 on direct orders from Moscow.

Mastermind of UK mainland bombing campaigns 1964-1993 attributed to the terrorist brands of "IRA", "Provisional IRA" and other "IRA"s.

Architect, under Margaret Thatcher and Armand Hammer, of Poodle Administration.

Driving force beheind 9/11.

Caught out by the IRAQ WMD fiasco - a joint UK/US counter-intelligence move to identify paedophile ring operating in government, public office, finance/banking, diplomacy etc.

EDIT: Frank Gelli's 80th birthday is tomorrow. His original birth certificate and passport show him to be a Cuban born Russian.

His formerly-UK based son Henry Gelli (previously known to UK spooks by his anagramatic name "Henley Girl") has now re-invented himself for the third or fourth time as a Muslim and is living in the Arabian Gulf posing as a journalist. Has been implicated in both the thefts of property portfolios that were mortgaged by Cardinal Marcinkus, ex-CEO of the Vatican Bank, and moneylaundering of cocaine profits via Edmond Safra's Republic National Bank.

Henry Gelli's son, Barry, also UK resident, implicated in the murder of "God's Banker" Roberto Calvi and the subsequent MI6 cover-ups. Worked for Robert Maxwell in the 1980s and was financed by Armand Hammer. His mother, a former prostitute, works for Prince Charles's charities.

57. I just read the original link quoted at the start of Sabra's thread:
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 09:08 AM by emad
"James Dale Guckert, using the alias Jeff Gannon, was frequently called on by White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan and President George Bush during the briefings. He worked for a Republican Party front organization called Talon News."

http://www.niagarafallsreporter.com/editorial196.html

But what makes me chuckle is that Talon news was sued some years back by members of the New York based Merriman family who won a substantial out of court settlement from Talon after one of its shareholders repeated a libelous slur that originated from the Merrimans' previous successful libel lawsuit against the Christian Monitor, which was also settled out of court.

Ted Merriman and his wife took Talon to the cleaners and were able to prove that the slur - a verbal defamation re their political, social and financial standing - had spread via a male prostitute link and ended up on Talon's doorstep.

Merriman's late father, Richard Merriman, died a few years after JFK's assasination in a plane crash that was eventually proven to be an act of sabotage. He was the last journalist to interview Marilyn Monroe. The interview was taped two days before her sudden, convenient "suicide", and was due to be published for Time magazine.

Merriman kept the tape which ran on after the conclusion of his written notes of the interview. When Marilyn was suddenly found dead he hid the tape, on advice from his father, the late General John "Jack" Merriman, an awesome cold war spy hunter who had been closely involved in the military intelligence gathering re the Cuba crisis that JFK defused.

I don't know if the Warren Commission ever heard the tape. But I have heard that the last few minutes of the tape concerned Marilyn Monroe's fear and disgust of a man called Frank Gelli, who she claimed had previously raped her and was running US double agents who spied for the Soviet Union. And that senior CIA spooks, including Richard McGarrach Helms, were involved in a chain that was smuggling atomic bombs destined to blow up London.

Back to the Merrimans....The Merriman family is closely related to a branch of Harry S Truman's family as well as the Wallace family and that of the Daniel family.

Ted Merriman is a former Democrat Governor (Maryland????? can't find a link about this at present) who left public office after an assasination attempt on his life. He is a majority shareholder of a major private NY based bank, owns extensive oil, gas and other hydrocarbon interests and - from memory - is a former World Champion of the chinese game GO! He and his wife have a home in NY's Sutton Place, were investors in the development of TriBeCa, and have other homes in San Francisco, Connecticut, Palm Beach, as well as in London's billionaires' row Kensington Palace Gardens.

Guckert did graduate from West Chester University in 1980 with a B.S. in secondary education. I don't know why he tried to make people think he graduated from Penn State other than that he doesn't want anyone snooping around West Chester U in West Chester PA.

I think I can clear up some of the confusion, here. Pennsylvania owns 14 universities, and Penn State is NOT one of them. Penn State is actually a private institution. It is true that West Chester is part of the Pennsylvania state system of higher education, which is a separate entity. I think the reason he referred to his education as being in the "penn state system" (or however he worded it, I can't remember) was to be deliberately misleading.

Here's a map of the state schools in PA:

"Bush was booed by the crowd in Rome last week when he attended the funeral of Pope John Paul II. Here at home, he resorts to paying off syndicated columnists like Maggie Gallagher and Armstrong Williams, holding phony town-hall meetings that only his supporters are allowed to attend and relying on pretend reporters like Guckert to push his agenda.

The scary thing is that his propaganda machine seems to be working. Millions of delusional people believe that the war in Iraq and the dismantling of Social Security are good things. Louise Slaughter is out there fighting the good fight and all of us in Western New York should be proud of her."

He LIED in the face of the potus on national TV about the "soup lines" quote.

He LIED saying that porn web domains he registered had never had any content.

He plagiarized the work of other journalists and LIED, claiming it as his own. (http://rawstory.com/exclusives/byrne/gannon_accused_of_plagiarism_331.htm , http://whyareweback.blogspot.com/ )

He phoned Daschle's campaign headquarters and LIED, claiming to be a resident of the state, under yet another false name.

His articles are, of course, filled with LIES.

He claimed connection to documents relating to the exposure of a CIA operative.

He advertised himself for criminal prostitution.

He posted pornographic photos on internet sites accessible to children.

He did not pay his taxes in Delaware.

He has indicated that he owns a gun, which is illegal in DC, where he claims to reside.

He operated under an alias for a number of years.

He refused to provide a routine biography to a radio station in preparation for a guest appearance.

The raid Monday was on Camp Gannon, a U.S. base at Husaybah, a few yards from the Syrian border near the Euphrates River. U.S. Cobra attack helicopters fired on the insurgents to repel simultaneous attacks by suicide bombers and armed fighters, officials said. A second car bomb exploded 15 minutes after the first assault, "at the same entrance, while the soldiers were busy rescuing the wounded," Capt. Saad Abdul Fattah of the Iraqi army said. snip--
