Republicans' disdain for technology -- backward progress
I never was a big supporter of Republicans, but I only recently realized how much most of them appear to flat out hate technology. This came as a big surprise to me, someone with degrees in technology related fields, and just a general fan of technological progress.

When Republican friends of mine in IT mentioned they hate computers, I shrugged it off. When Bush was unable to use the word "internet" correctly in a sentence during the 2nd debate, I cringed, and shrugged it off. When Republican relatives of mine complained about a few high paying job losses due to factory advancements in their town, it started to sink in.

As I've known for some time, even the Iraq war is fought with century old battle strategies. Technology certainly helps in things like missile guidance and manufacturing efficiency, but technology certainly is not an overall driving force behind the war. If it was, we could have done it without soldiers (just my view, though many may disagree).

All this culminates into one conclusion. Republicans don't progress, they regress, and they take backward steps every day. Left unchecked in the U.S. they probably will go back to using outhouses in a few years. We'll have to start drinking out of streams, eating road kill, and using leaches and snake oil on our ailments.

I really don't understand why anyone would hate, fear, or even dislike technology. I've always seen it as inherently good. Moreover, it is important to stay on the cutting edge for the sake of our national defense and financial strength. We, as in the world, really have only touched the tip of the technological iceberg.

1. It's taken a lot of effort, but we have finally succeeded,
in dragging the religious right kicking and screaming into the 20th century.

Before you know it, they'll be riding horse-less carriages and using indoor plumbing!!!

:hurts:
