First, a back story:

When I was in jr. high, I went to what was probably the most ass-backward, redneck hick junior HS in the history and future of the universe. (Yeah, I used hyperbole, but not much. :)) (Aside: I was treated like shit there for a couple of reasons: firstly, I have dark skin (I am caucasian, but I have darkish skin; I was born in New Orleans to two Caucasians):

So everybody joked that I was from the Middle East and told me to "wear my turban" and bullshit like that.

Also, I have a very thick Cajun drawl, and that was just more ammo to them.

Stupid pricks.)

Now; in the summer of 1999-2000, my fucking redneck-ass school was raffling off a rifle. Now, remember, a very short while ago, the Columbine massacre happened; and apparently, the brutal stupidity of mixing guns with school hadn't occured to these Cro-Magnons. So, they do it anyway, after my mother and a group of people protested.

They ignored her.

So, she did what any other person in her situation would do:

Get the Million Mom March involved.

Unfortunately, even with the MMM involved, the arrogant assholes STILL went through with it. Ugh.
