1. way to "support our troops"
i wish the repukes, and their supporters, would realize it takes more than putting yellow magnetic ribbons on their cars to support the troops . . .

5. yeah, that's what I meant also
waving flags and other symbolic shows of "support" make people feel all warm and fuzzy, but where are they when the soldiers come home and need medical treatments? psychiatric counseling? help putting their marriage/business/life back together? getting out of debt? flag waving doesn't help that . . .

4. Good speech - I went to a rally in Auburn at the WWII
Victory Museum, for VA benefits last Saturday. It seems that the VA is shutting down the inpatient care here in Fort Wayne, so many veterans will have to drive to Indianapolis or Battle Creek MI, instead. There was a young man that had returned from Iraq that spoke from a wheelchair. I think it is an insult to these poor soldiers to strip them of their benefits and make them beg to have them back.

At the rally, there were about 150 people there, but no senators or congressmen showed up, even though they had been invited well in advance. They should be ashamed of themselves.

6. WHY are the Dems not all over this in the public?
THIS is the kind of stuff that pisses off voters. We create these vets, we create disabilities or injuries and then we ignore them afterward. THAT is criminal, IMO.

Vets are people who gave up a lot for this country. Some of these guys over in Iraq right now are injured terribly--disfigured, left disabled, left with lifetime pain and suffering--and those f*&%ing Republican SOBS that created this are hanging those men out to dry.

GAWD.

11. That's what I don't get...
The rethugs talk about "supporting the troops" and all this patriotic bullshit, but when it comes right down to it they screw the vets over every chance they get.

The democrats should be emphasizing this point in the media again and again so the public can see what hypocrites these people are.

An unborn fetus? That "child" deserves every chance to live.

War veteran with medical disabilities? Fuck 'em.

8. While Commander Bunnypants....
...poses for photo ops with the troops and plays army man,
his republican friends back home are refusing
to fund medical benefits for our frontline fighters!

I wonder how many of our soldiers in this picture know that the bush*/republicans were voting AGAINST them today?

12. This picture makes me so angry!!!
I grew up in a Navy family and served in the Navy myself. I know what the military is like and how hard life can be for those in uniform. It pisses me off that shrub and co. praise the troops in public, but slash their benefits in private.

What makes me even more sick is that Bush has the gall to parade around in a flight suit and other military clothing like he is "one of them". Nothing could be further from the truth.

9. I knew when they put that Jim Nicholson guy
(former chair of the RNC and former Amb. to the Vatican) in charge of the Veterans Administration, it would not be good. One of the Repuke Senators said today that Nicholson testified at a hearing that the Veterans Administration had enough funding. Senator Patty Murray countered with the fact that Nicholson had been the Administrator for only two weeks when he said that.

14. Sorry, GOP limits support to lame yellow magnets on their Chevy Blazer
and maybe buying a Toby Keith CD. As far as supporting them with benefits, why, it's not the conservative way.

15. Still, the Repubicans support the troops more.
I know this because more Republicans have yellow magnet ribbons on their cars.

And if that isn't enough evidence, all you have to do is turn on the radio to Rush or t.v. to Sean Hannity, et. al. They'll tell you that Republicans support the troops and that the Dems hate the troops.

Remember what the Daily Show said....don't listen to the facts, listen to the WORDS.

16. What is this - some kind of lie-beral propaganda ?!?
Everybody knows that the Great Republicans are the best for our military and veterans. Only the Strong Republicans can keep us safe from the terrorists. Rush Limbaugh told me so. So it has to be the truth. Its those weak lie-berals spreading lies thatdon't support the troops.

<end Boudelang impersonation>

Face it. The average republican voter won't bother with facts. They will be told all is well By Sean and Rush and swallow every bit.

Two big problems. Mass numbers of easily manipulated people and corporate control of the media. Result = large numbers of indoctrinated people. I'm afraid for this country because of this.

18. Bumpersticker: "Call your Senators (or Reps)! 1-800-xxx-xxxx" would be
extremely handy to see if you're driving on the freeway, hear the latest OUTRAGE and want to call the pertinent politicians. I wish one out of the scores of "Support Our Troops" magnet ribbons I saw today had that 800 number on it.

Ed Schultz interviewed Senator Murray immediately after the vote and I wanted to call right then and there to raise hell. But I had no phone number. Earlier on Ed's show, a trucker called saying his pol's phone numbers are on his cell speed dial - a good idea, I'll do the same.

But still... putting phone number info out on the road - I bet tons of people would call, if only they had a number. A bumpersticker could feature both state and national 800 numbers.

Ed Schultz - commenting on the outrageous, continual abuse of vets, said Republicans really know how to run over veterans with a truck and kick them to the curb like roadkill. They do it all the time. He said the story of this vote will go unreported by MSM but bush's visit to troops today, during which * said he's proud of them, will get covered in all news stories tonight.

I listened to that too and Schultz was dead on right. Schultz sometimes rocks and other times sounds like an ignorant red neck. I like Ed... almost like a kid in a grown man's body... sort of like Tom Hanks in Big.

25. the times he gets it right and rants loudly are great. The others, the
ignorant red neck ones, are discouraging. But he eventually gets it right - he's even talking a little about the Arctic Refuge, after watching that CNN show. Sometimes I think he does the dumb redneck thing to heat up listeners.
