US Military recruiting 14 year olds. Watch your kids closer. We are

going to be a war for several decades thanks to Bushco. They can go behind parents back until they talk the kids into signing up. They pay the kids $2500 a year from age 14 on up. But it's future pay and if they kids don't show up for duty they have to pay 1/2 back. And these kids are going to war. What is wrong with out country. It gets more unbelievable every day. Maybe we should send all the male children to schools in foreign countries.

And while waiting to report to duty at 18, the new recruits are paid a modest stipend and allowed access to funds granted veterans for education. Because combat duty is a requirement of enlistment, the program is currently open only to young men, and it has been authorized for only three years, so Congress will have to renew the program again in 2008.

"We're going to appeal to the patriotism of parents," says Pederson. "Parents have to understand that their children are needed in a time of war and that sacrifices need to be made for the good of the nation."

After he signed the paperwork, however, Bloomer took a closer look at the contract and was even more disturbed by what she learned. The small print reveals that the $350 monthly stipend her son receives is actually an advance on his $250 per month combat pay and $100 per month hardship duty pay.

7. There is something just not right with this story

Its not that I don't believe its possible but highly unlikely. Why would you wait four years to get a hold of a kid. Then they say they are paying them advances on their combat pay and hardship pay. Well you only get that if you are in combat or facing hardship. Which means in 4 years Iraq could be over and unless he is stationed in South Korea he wont get hardship pay. If you could find another link that is from a more reliable source I would like to read it. Something just smacks of BS about this story.

And if IOWA is 'second highest' with 94 enrolees, then which state has the 5,000?

Their dates don't match up; just looks like BS all around.

Some of those quotes were simply mind-blowing. That they would prey on CHILDREN - God, I'm furious...

Yeah, bastard - you can't get sensible grown men to sign up for your illegal wars, so you want to make a CHILD an offer he can't refuse and then hold him to it, under legal penalties, when he finally IS old enough to enter into legal contracts freely?

"It's an important tool to reach these kids before they are influenced by outside forces who lack understanding of the U.S. military's worldwide goals," he adds. "These kids understand the need for a strong military and haven't had their thoughts corrupted by unpatriotic ideas."
