Reeps are going to miss the filibuster one day if they abolish it: |

Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 07:09 PM by elehhhhna
Republicans used the filibuster to derail civil rights litigation several times in the 1950s and 1960s. Former Sen. Strom Thurmond holds the record for the longest individual speech, over 24 hours against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
Republicans used the filibuster to kill Clinton's stimulus package and heathcare reform.
Republicans used it to block the Abe Fortas nomination as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Last term, the Democrats filibustered only 10 of 230 Bush nominees. The Republicans, however, blocked 60 of President Clinton's.

3. McCain pointed the statistics out on Tweety's show on Friday. |
|
He made it clear that killing the filibuster is NOT good for the country at all.
But it's very apparent that what's good for the country is NOT good for the TheoCon/NeoCon agenda, so eff it. :sarcasm:
