Movement to Move the UN from US

I have set up a blog to start a movement to Move the UN from the US.

I hope all of you will support this in the interests of World Justice.

The blog is at

http://movetheun.blogspot.com

Your inputs would be greatly appreciated.

It would cost everyone less, it would be far more efficient, it would be free from the bullying of the US malAdministration, the financial inputs from the US can be disregarded, it would be better managed, pResident Bush would never be able to speak at the forum, the terror levels in the US can be dramatically reduced, the people, the diplomats, the tourists and others involved with the UN would be far better off financially, there is an endless amount of top quality educated staff available at costs which are a 10th of what it costs to employ an US citizen, contracts would not be steam-rolled to corporate America, etc. etc.. And New York would not have to worry about the parking fines from the UN diplomats as each diplomat could be given a chauffeur at virtually no material cost.

AND, you can actually work with a Right Wing Group to make this happen.

Help ME, please, to get this movement OFF THE GROUND.

1. Can't see it happening the only way the UN is ever leaving New York
is if it went out of business. The first hurdle you would have to get over is finding some nation or city that would put up with the assorted hassles of having the UN. Such as finding a place to build, building it, security, parking, having a couple hundred of missions finding a place to be, security for them, etc. Then it solves none of your problems. Then their is the problems for the UN like moving everyone and everything, and the costs associated with it. Then in the end it solves none of your problems. Bush can hop a plane like every other world leader and still speak at the UN. We still pay or UN dues which gives us leverage to bully them and we still have a seat in the general assembly and the security council. So in the end you will have created a giant mess and solved nothing. Also instead of corporate America getting the contracts it would be corporate Europe and if think there is actually much difference then you better think again.

5. India would welcome it as they would

get their Permanent Seat on the Security Council.

Further, India is a democracy, it is secular, it has no axe to grind as even relations with Pakistan have improved with Cricket Diplomacy, China and India have removed 99% of their difference, Russia and India have a long lasting friendship, the Indian economy is booming, land is cheap, labour is cheap, raw materials are cheap, great architects available, climate round the year is superb, two thirds of the world population are in close proximity, AND WE WON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO the Bush Crime Family, etc..

The hassles you are talkking about are only those which want you to prevent moving the UN from the US. Why so defeatist?

Do you think Switzerland and Austria have any hassles with UN operating out of their cities - they are great revenue earners for their economies.

7. Seriously why do you think moving the UN is going to change a thing
the UN could be in Ulan Bator and things would still work the same. It isn't the position geographically that dictates what happen its the system itself. The UN is screwed up!! Seriously and sadly screwed up. It once held such great promise and hope. A chance to fix the mistakes of the past and bring peace to the world. Now it seems mired in byzantine politics and bureaucratic miasma. Does anyone in the UN actually give a damn what goes on in the world? Outside of groups like UNCEF, WHO or UNCESCO the UN in the past few years seems to have done nothing to justify its existence. It sits back and endlessly debates when hundreds of thousands have died in Bosnia, Rwanda or the Sudan. It talks about the self determination of people and then is planning to hand over Western Sahara to Morocco even though it once recognized this region and the people who fought to free it from colonialism as an independent nation. It lets Sudan sit on the Human Rights Comission even though for decades it has waged a war of genocide on the Animists and Christians in the south and now a war of ethnic cleansing in the Darfur region. A war in which if they don't kill you outright they take you into slavery. Its gotten to the point where I don't care where the UN is or even if it exists anymore. Its just like my own government a farce. It tells you that it cares and it tells you that it will change the world for the better but its nothing more than a pack of lies.

8. Countries would bend over backwards to have the UN.
I dont see a point in moving it either, the US has to be a part of any solution anyway. But countries would certainly like the strategic advantage of having the UN on home soil.

9. Why does the US have to be part of the solution

The US is broke, it is owned by China, Saudi Arabia and a few other countries. The money that US promises to the UN is being borrowed from these countries anyway.

So why should the US borrow to support the UN?

And operational costs would drop by a factor of 10 if it is moved to China or India. No manpower shortage, no parking place shortage,....

US would not even be required to be a Permanent Member as it does not believe in the UN anyway.

Remember John Bolton's words.

The US is now, anyway, only a Banana Republic!!

3. Great idea !!
I'm tired of U.S. politicians using the UN to whip-up anger as a means to get votes on election day.
