what happens if there is a 269-269 split? |
|
What will happen if the electoral college votes are split?
It is still early for predictions vut if the Dem candidate wins the following states there will be 269-269 split.
Hawaii - 4 California - 55 Oregon - 7 Washington - 11 Nevada - 5 New Mexico - 5 Minnesota - 10 Iowa - 7 Wisconsin - 10 Illinois - 21 Michigan - 17 Pennsylvania - 21 New York - 31 New Jersey - 15 Vermont - 3 New Hampshire - 4 Maine - 4 D.C - 3 Massachusetts - 12 Connecticut - 7 Rhode Island - 4 Dalaware - 3 Maryland - 10 ================= Total - 269 Rest of the states - 269
Do the Congress decide who is the president in that case? With republicans controlling the Congress, what will the decide if the Dem candidate wins the popular vote? Will they still select Bush?

2. Bush says he will get ALL Electoral votes |
|
Bush says the entire map of the US will be red on election night. He is getting the Pioneers in place to rig the vote. WHen you see that you'd better head for the border that is why you need to tell the world how ridiculous he sounds and nip this fantasy in the butt.

4. If memory serves me... |
|
The election goes to the Senate if someone fails to get a majority of the electoral college. This happened once in American history, and i believe it was Henry Clay that got shafted. On that I could be completely wrong though. But, it would go to the CURRENT Senate, not who wins in 2004, but that still would mean 4 more years of Bush.

7. My understanding is that the House votes, but not individually |
|
each state delegation has one vote. I don't have any idea how the dynamics of that would work out. What happens if the members of a state delegation refuse to agree?
The Senate picks the VP, with each Senator getting one vote.

9. The majority in each delegation decides... |
|
for instance, CA would vote Democratic 33-20, assuming Cardoza is re-elected and we don't toss any Repuke incumbents.

8. If no candidate gets a majority... |
|
the House chooses the president and each state's delegation gets one vote. The Senate chooses the vice president. This would be the new109th Congress.
