Chinese arms for Iraq?
Inside the Ring

By Bill Gertz and Rowan Scarborough
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Chinese arms for Iraq?
The U.S. Army is considering buying a large number of AK-47 assault rifles and other small arms from, of all places, China. The guns would be used to equip the new Iraqi army, we are told.

Why wouldn't Poland get the contract or even give the contract to a firm in the USA!

1. I can see the justification in buying AKs
Its pretty much the stadard rifle of the Iraqi army so they are used to them. Though you are right Poland or one of the former Warsaw Pact nations should get the contract. Though I would skip Romania they have a bad rep when it comes to weapons. Rather shoddy workmanship though I don't know if they have overcome that but a rep like that takes a while to die down.
