I have tickets to see Bush. What should I do?
He's going to speak at the dedication of the Lincoln Presidential Museum. I'm thinking I'll where my "Not My President" Shirt. I don't necessarily want to get kicked out since I'm excited about the museum.

I'm sure Bush will try to claim he's continuing Lincoln's legacy of fighting for freedom and liberation, even though Lincoln would have opposed the war in Iraq. Lincoln spoke out against the Mexican-American war as a Congressman because it was an unprovoked war of aggression based on lies.

Any suggestions?

4. Sell the tickets to a nutcase fundie who actually --
-- believes Bush is a Christian. Triple the price. The fundie will pay it.

Then give 2/3rds of the money to the progressive party of your choice -- Democrats, Greens, etc. -- for the upcoming battles.

With the last third, buy some good beer and share it with a progressive spouse, S.O. or pal.

Apparently he does GOP fundraisers and a lot of the audience think (at least at the beginning) that it really is Bush.

yes, if u could sound like an over zealous fundie, u could make less radical people near you see how stupid his ideas are. Like clap wildly and say how excited you are because you want to invest all of your social security money in your brothers aligator farm. If they're able to reattach his arm, you know it will make money. You are so glad this president can see the needs of the people.

20. Highly suggest wearing a sweater over it to get in....
and tying the sweater around your waist later.

I would vote for the 'wild applause at inappropriate times' idea.
It would really be great to time it to a normal pause and see if you can get big chunks of barely-sentient Bush-fans to join in.

It might even throw him off if you are artful about it.

Just because it's for the public and not one of his "town hall" events or a "rally" doesn't mean they won't throw you out even if you're civil. They don't like dear leader being around critizim. He has to think he's loved and the best in the history of our country. So if you do wear anything that has Kerry and/or Edwards on it they'll surely make you take it off and if you don't they'll kick you out. Who cares if it's pulic? :eyes:

38. Didn't control NYC for the Republican Convention and yet 100s of people
got detained... ( HBO's First Ammendment Project gives great detail to this that MSM completely ignored). While it's a not a "restricted" event -- if they feel that your dissent is "disruptive" they may detain you (if a finger can be seen as disruptive, surely, by their definition Words could be seen as disruptive, too) --

Are you in your rights to wear the shirt. Absolutely.

Would it cause a problem? Possibly.

Is that a risk you want to take? Your call.

If you are more subtle on the way in -- and there are a lot of people you may not be taken aside prior to the event.

Then scream, "AArgh!... you HURT ME!" and cradle your hand as you seek medical attention.

Upon questioning, explain it must have been a pinched nerve.

But DON'T do this;

"I think a good gift for the President would be a chocolate revolver and since he is so busy, you'd probably have to run up to him real quick and give it to him."

40. Auction them on Ebay
to raise money for charity. Once you get them auctioned off, turn around and give the money to The Southern Poverty Law Center. They are a charity that provides legal services to victims of hate groups like the KKK and the neo confederate hate groups. The SPLC have been successful at proving that conspiracies of race war baiting exist between members of those types of groups in our court system. They have also actively worked to bankrupt many of the groups who have planned violence against what they called ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government) meaning the US government during the Clinton Administration. These hate groups (they call themselves "militia") stockpile weapons and even have ties to Al Qaeda and they are the same types of people who spawned the likes of Eric Rudolph and Timothy McVeigh. What better way to honor Lincoln and speak out against many of Bush's followers who hold racist views?

Wear your tee but cover it up to get in. It doesn't matter that it's not a Bush event, they don't want any dissenters near Bush or in the view of the camera.

Get there early and try to get a spot within the view of the cameras as well as try to get a press interview. Have something prepared to say about Bush.

Don't clap, but give a thumbs down whenever others clap for him. This may get you some press. If you yell out, the SS WILL remove you.

Take along a video camera if your allowed or a still camera, turning your back on bush is a brillant idea, letting out groans and moans of disgust when he is speaking is another good idea, get up close when he is speaking and walk off in disgust when he starts to talk about freedom.

When is the event and please let us know how it went.

Something like, "W, anointed by God to save America." Or "GWB, the new messiah" or "Save us, President Bush, from liberals and gays" or "President Bush, God's gift to mankind" or "With President Bush we can make America a Leviticus-based country" or President Bush, cleanse our country of evil-doers and transgressors" or "Please, President Bush, cleanse America of evil" or "One country, one people, one leader-W" (that latter is a bit obvious, to me at least). I mean something so revoltingly pro-Bush, so way out there that sensible people will believe Bush supporters are stark raving mad. I love the picture someone posts of the rapturous girl. But if you used her you'd have to change the message somewhat.

The idea is pretend to be a Bush supporter but one of the lunatic fringe. Come to think of it maybe we should all infiltrate Bush events--swearing our undying loyalty, protesting for the most ridiculous aspects of the right wing agenda.

76. how about that pic of Bush with his "halo"?
Actually there are several of those to choose from.

I just LOVE that "One country, one people, one leader-W" -- what a brilliant bumper sticker that would make!

80. and under the circumstances, so appropriate!

The sad thing is not just how many people wouldn't get the historical reference, but how many would fervently endorse it.

(and what happens if you get too close to the podium!)

and give the rest of the proceeds to the Progressive Democrats of America.

62. Here's the deal:
cover the shirt to get in. or don't even wear an anti-bush shirt.

when he talks, make a hissing noise between your teeth. when he pauses, look like you're clapping, but don't make any sound with your hands and boo softly. one person booing is audible at an extraordinary range.

either that or just shout "you're not my president!" and prepare to get kicked out. or throw your shoe at him and call him a lying bitch as you're being dragged out.

sigh, so many options!

enjoy! :-)

63. Take Ipecac syrup beforehand... vomiting should start within 20 minutes
... hopefully, right when that WH Fascist Thug is speaking.

Or, if you're not that adventurous (or masochistic) simply Turn Your Back (with a one-fingered salute, if you like) when he starts babbling.

Dress conservatively so you can get in.

64. Radical Activist...do you live in Springfield IL?
I don't know if I'd wear any anti Bush shirts to the Lincoln thing on Tuesday. Springfield is pretty pro Bush (thanks to all the fundies in town) and the crowd could get ugly even if the secret service does nothing because it's a high profile event.

66. I don't think he should let the fundies SILENCE him.
There are peaceful ways to protest. I think he should go and be our voice!!! Get some press! Speak out!

70. Sangamon County voted around 55% for Bush.
So its majority Republican, but most of them are still pretty moderate. I'll be outnumbered but not alone.

79. Here's the thing
You know Bush's events are always staged.....They screen people to ensure that only his supporters are allowed access to his events.

So, when you get there, pretend you are a Bush lover. Act like you would crawl down the street on broken glass for him. Then once you're in there....bam!!!! Do your thing!!!!
