Glimmer of hope....
I eat breakfast on fridays with a group (about 16) of old farts in a pink/blue area in a blue state.

We talk about fishing and motors and "man" stuff mostly, because the group is very diverse politically, and we don't want to argue, we just want to bullshit a bit.

One of the two Bushbots made a comment totally unrelated to the conversation about "killing someone by depriving them of food and water".

Everybody jumped on him.

These are old guys - keep in mind - and what happens if they or their spouses get "Schivoed" is very important to them.

It sounded like a DU thread....
".....don't want the government telling me when to live or die...."
"....damned religious nuts want to run the country..."
"... I sure don't want to live like that, and neither does my wife."
"... That's why I have that Health Care Directive thing...."
etc
etc

I felt good and hopeful there for a minute. Of course, that feeling went away quickly, but a moment was good.

1. yeah
in these days of such extreme derision and devisiveness, a group agreeing on a reasonable point of view is almost a complete anomaly and must have truly been "a glimmer of hope." Thx

8. No, I'm not a man, I am not retired (projected retirment at age 94) and I
can't afford to eat out. That only leaves old, but my current age is my projected retirement age backwards. Does that qualify as old? Not to me, but then I don't look my age according to my students...

5. Thank you, Sir or Madame
As a Senior Citizen ,I appreciate that once in awhile something I say is "heard". "Old people" have indeed been there, done that, and more often than not, know what they are talking about.

If this gets posted twice, I admit, I'm new at this business, but I'll catch on eventually. O.K.?:>)

9. The fact that there's a reason to use a term like "Shiavoed..."
My god. That is...insane. Schiavoed. Can't believe we're in this place.
