I'm in shock right now, i take my daughter to get a smoothie and sitting in front of the store were 4 kids, 3 boys and a girl around 15 wearing teeshirts with swastikas on them. Seeing those kids so young wearing that was enough to literally make me puke. WTF is going in this country?

or so this kid got arrested for planning a "Columbine style" attack on his highschool but he only planned on shooting minority students, so the story is all over the news and what shocked me was only about 2 stories mentioned that this kid had a 6 x 9 swastika flag in his bedroom and his parents, get this shit...."We didn't think there was anything wrong with him, we didn't know". I mean please, you telling me you didn't fucking notice that hugh flag in his bedroom?

Two 16-year-old Elk Grove students on Monday admitted charges stemming from their plot to wage a Columbine-style assault on their high school last February, prosecutors said.

The two admitted conspiring to commit murder, that the attack planned on the Laguna Creek High School cafeteria would have been a hate crime, and to attempted burglary. The hate crime enhancement acknowledged that they planned to target blacks and other racial minorities, including one particular black student.

Defense attorneys previously had said the youths had no history of violence and the assault plan would never have likely been carried out.

In exchange for their acceptance of responsibility to Juvenile Court Referee Dean Petersen, Petersen agreed to send the youths to the Sacramento County Boy's Ranch. County prosecutors opposed that sentence, saying the charges' seriousness meant the two should go to the California Youth Authority.

3. teens need to shock, to rebel, to antagonize those they feel "control"

them. Thus, most societies have always had some kind of "right of passage," often with some risk (e.g., survival rights among Native peoples), that allows teen males, at least to move through this phase. The Vietnam War, the draft, and rebellion against authority captured and focused those energies in the 60s. Conversely, gangs, grunge, goth, and yes, even skinhead/nazi affiliation captures many now.

While I have to worry about what it says re: the lack of historical education, it is possible that many might still use these symbols to shock--remember Prince Harry's costume recently? :shrug:

5. Are you sure they weren't swastikas with "X"s through them?

Punk rock kids wear patches with a swastika with a big red X through them. punk rock kids dress differently, so maybe you glanced at their odd clothing and saw the patch and didn't notice the X and assumed they were nazis?

I certainly hope that's the case, that's really too bad if not the case.

8. i'm postive, i looked at them at least 2 more times after spotting the

swastika. i'm used to the skater kids and the punk kids, these kids were different, 2 had shaved heads, one with a cap one without, one goth looking girl and another boy that also had the goth look.
