So what is the prophecy surrounding this shiny new pope?
He's supposed to be the second-to-last, or something like that.

Any other info?

4. He's 78 and in excellent health
and will be around long enough to drag the church back from the brink of the sixteenth century firmly into the fourteenth.

24. no joke
I always said that the new pope would be more conservative that John Paul II. Too bad everyone sees the potential for the reality of this "job".

As a Catholic I am sick. :puke:

Gloria olivæ
The Benedictine order traditionally said this Pope would come from their order.

Next pope after this one is the last one according to Malachy.

I ain't catholic either, but the seals are the signs or forewarnings of the apocalypse (in Revalations...the bible's last book). There's seven, and they have integer numbers. So saying "the 3 1/2 one" is nonsensical. Laugh now.

23. gloria olivae (second to last pope)
http://ad2004.com/prophecytruths/Articles/Prophecy/Malachy.html

So Ends the Treatise
According to St Malachy's list, Pope John Paul II is the third to the last pope. He is referred to as "ab labore solis", from the labor of the sun. Therefore, the remaining popes are:

ab labore solis (current Pope, John Paul II)

gloria olivae (second to last pope)

petrus romanus (Peter the Roman would be the last pope)

15. The predictions of St. Malachy O'Morgair, Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 12:31 PM by Rosco T.
c. 1139

"The next Pope after John Paul II will take the name Pope Benedict XVI, in imitation of Saint Benedict and also of Pope Benedict XV. Just as Pope Benedict XV was an emissary of peace, so will Pope Benedict XVI be an emissary of peace. Just as Pope Benedict XV sought peace and spoke of peace and wrote papal documents seeking peace, so will Pope Benedict XVI do also. Just as Pope Benedict XV failed to achieve peace in the world, so will Pope Benedict XVI fail to achieve peace in the world. Just as the Pontificate of Benedict XV began prior to World War I, so will the Pontificate of Benedict XVI occur prior to World War III. After the Pontificate of Benedict XVI, World War III will begin. The Arab nations will threaten and attack the United States; they will threaten, attack, invade and conquer Europe; they will threaten, attack, invade and conquer the northern part of Africa. It is God's will."

What's more likely, this guy saw the future, or Ratzinger picked the name Benedict to fit?

Where are you getting that paragraph from? It's very misleading and there's no link. Why are you doing that?

28. That's a riff on the Malachy prophecy, which is like two sentences
and very, very vague. The guy who wrote that is "Ronald L. Conte Jr."

He also wrote this:
d. Pope Benedict XVI will be like Saint Benedict, who lived in the fifth and sixth centuries. He will be a man dedicated to peace and holiness. There is another Saint Benedict, a well-known Saint called Saint Benedict the Black (il moro santo, the holy Moor). Pope Benedict XVI will also be like Saint Benedict the Black. Pope Benedict XVI will be a black man, like Saint Benedict the Moor. He will be a holy Pope, who reinforces the teaching of the Church in opposition to the errors of modern culture.

32. Hopefully not true
Since this prediction also stated this Pope would be black, it would seem difficult to rely on its credibility.

And reputedly, the Benedictines have traditionally said this Pope would come from their order.
