Do you remember what Michael Corleone asked Hyman Roth...
in Godfather II? "You know what I saw today? I saw a man blow himself up in protest of the government." And Hyman Roth asked, "What does that tell you?" Michael said, "That they can win."

That's what I think everytime I hear of us browbeating another country to put troops into Iraq. Doesn't anyone get it? They can win. I think we've lost the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq already, and we just don't know it.

I hope I'm wrong.

1. Did he say "That they can win"?
or "That they think they can win"? I'm not sure - I'm just asking.

2. Either way. It doesn't really matter
since the real point of the statement is that the risk outweighs the investment.

3. Agree on Iraq, disagree on Afghanistan
We just can't allow terrorists to train out in the open and graduate classes to fly around the world. Stopping that is worth the investment in my opinion, and it is a long investment, because it will optimistically be a generation before Afghanistan could ever be a stable modern country.

Iraq is an entirely different story though.

4. wrong school to close down
yupster,

if you feel this is the problem

"We just can't allow terrorists to train out in the open and graduate classes to fly around the world"

then you might want to focus your attention to that School down in Georgia here in Americas, only be careful they have already sent people to prison for drawing attention to it.

5. thank you, moof
for pointing out the terror is a US export, also.

but then i'm one of those crazy motherfuckers that believes that going after the terrorist themselves and the roots of terrorism would be much more effective than bombing whole counties into dust and stirring up further resentment against the US.
