Bill Maher excellent on Jay Leno last night. He stated outright his |
|
hate of Bush and his disgust at the culture of hate the repukes have created (and the desperate search of Bush followers for someone to lash out at ... while they are in complete power and really have nobody to blame but themselves). Yes he still hopes for peace in the Middle East. But he was merciless.
Is there a way to find a transcript of the Tonight show?

He was endlessly negative about Gore. And he helped make Ann Coulter famous. Surely he sees that he was an enabler in all this.

2. He is a libertarian. The fact his show is off the air 4 days a week |
|
means the political discussion has been debased and left to Faux News and commentators. That is why they bullied him off the air with the ABC show.
The point he makes about us liberals not ignoring the nuances of what is happening in the world (rather than the simple black & white patriotism of Bush followers) means that we are noticing democratic movement .. (And truth be told in another article on the DU last week - it was Jean Kirkpatric in 1977 who gave Reagan and the neocons the Kool-Aid a generation ago that meant that democracy in the mid east was not possible and the US should go for dictators.. and Liberals hated her for it at the time... neocons only realized she was wrong in 1998.. and needed to undo what they had done (Saddam Hussein). Fact is that Saddam Hussein will implicate all of Bush Sr., Cheney, Rumsfield, Wolfowitz in helping him set up power and test chemicals in the 1980s. Oh that trial will be delicious. The fact is that Carter was the one trying to get the Shaw of Iran to stop with torture and allow more democracy.. and the USA took this neocon/Kirkpatrick turn in 1977 and messed up the Middle East - oh Saddam's whole trial in terms of the present Bush Admin complicity in so much crap will be just ducky to watch).
Ann Coulter & that stable of long haired horses were sought out and mentored by the GOP for the very purpose that they become the sexy face of the GOP. And Ann is the only one who lasted. Bill only introduced her to liberals. The Faux News people would have had her on anyway.. and Larry King too had the 'fillies' I call them on.
He also reamed Bush for, sitting and reading my pet goat for 7 minutes after being told America was under attack. Bill said that in the nuclear age when minutes make all the difference a president cannot sit on his hands for however many minutes.
Oh it was lovely! Oh he was brilliant. I will try and find the transcript.

14. I saw it. He was great. |
|
And Maher made the best comment I've ever heard anyone make to Coulter. She was on one of his shows and was blathering some hate-soaked anti-liberal patheticism, and Maher turned to her and said, "You just make that shit up, don't you?"

7. Yeah - we are the Liberals. We are the adults. We do the shades |
|
of grey.
Black & White thinking is for Bush (Mr. I'm all white light & god).
The last thing we need right now is to be learning how to behave from the likes of George W. Bush or Karl Babyfaced (the sociopaths always are) Rove.

5. Leno looked uncomfortable |
|
Did you notice how uncomfortable Leno looked? I think he was worried he wouldn't get his next kick-back from the RNC for letting Mahr go on like that.
I felt kinda funny myself - seeing the truth spoken on network TV like that and all. ;)

He's got more chin than brains.
Funny, I used to like him back in the 80s.

12. Huh? Who is Bill Hicks? not more with people stealing each |
|
other's material? Don't you know..if you put it out there it is common property! That is why journalists, comedians, writers, don't babble too much until they go to print. And then it is out there. And when it is out there it is common.
Are we trying to separate Bill Maher from his flock by calling him a stealer? I don't know who Bill Hicks is.. but ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzz

9. It is okay. It has been a while since we have seen the truth on TV. I |
|
know it is tough to see. And yes - Leno could very well have been terrified of the coercion/attack to come for having a:
"Comedian do Comedy & punch through to some truths.on the Tonight Show"
Yes I can see it now, the GOP machine decide that the Tonight Show is not the 'right forum' for comedy.

10. Leno is a putz.. He revels in being "non-controversial" |
|
and consequently is not even funny.. He's a throwback to the old vaudeville style comedians..all that's missing is the rim-shot after each joke, and a "get it? get it?" :puke:

Are you sure that there aren't rim-shots after his "jokes". I almost never watch Leno but on the rare occasions over the years that I've watched a few minutes of it I would swear that I have, in fact, heard rim-shots after his lame-ass jokes. In addition to that, he kinda belabors the punchline which is a way of saying "get it? get it?" It's one of the main things I hate about him.

Like he has been doing on his show? The old "stopped clock" analogy? Or did Clark disabuse him of that notion?
