Relax (a little), already. It has to happen.
As the radical clerics in America and elsewhere get noisier and more obnoxious, Bush's numbers keep going down. As long as the buzz was about pushing freedom and democracy onto some brown people - while at the same time protecting our way of life from some other brown people - BushCo could have continued to get away with murder.

But BushCo expanded very quickly into policing our lives instead of just bombing the terror-loving brown people we suspected might be tunneling into our basements and classrooms and bars. Many of the Americans who supported BushCo are joint-smoking, rock listening, sex-loving partiers who got swept up in the terrorist-fear sweepstakes, but who have no real interest in redeeming themselves through fundamentalist means. BushCo had them in its collective pocket. These Americans are waking up now, and we owe a big thanks to the radical religious right for helping them realize what BushCo really is.

BushCo made a big mistake by casting its lot with the fundamentalist anti-joy crew. As long as the focus was on protecting our homeland from Saddam's magical WMDs, BushCo was able to cast its illusive black magic. But when the focus shifted, as it has, to cultural suppression and religious one-upmanship, the bloodshot eyes of our nation appear to have begun to open.

Yes, the rise of the radical right-wing clerics and their foolish attempts at pushing through Draconian drug laws; their rush to put the all-seeing eyes of their priests in each American's bedroom; their insistence that they know how, when or even if we should die might be necessary, though troubling, steps in the enlightenment of the 10 or 15 or 20% of BushCo supporters who just won't be comfortable hanging out in a repressive theocracy.

The question is, will enough of us wake up to this crap in time to help save our nation? We will wake up, of course, so long as the clerics continue to rattle their politically-sharpened, culturally-poisoned sabers. I just hope we wake up in time. So relax a little, but not too much. These things, too, shall pass. As long as they pass quickly.

1. Exactly
Keep fighting on, I say. Keep waking them up. We know our future is at stake, and we know what we have to do to change things. Being silent will not help anything at all. Our revolution starts now.
