Bolton or Ratzinger .....
Bolton as Ambassador to the U.N. or Ratzinger as Pope ..... which thought brings you down more? Ah hell they're both bad news. Think I'll send up black smoke if Bolton gets confirmed in the next few days ... geesh. :(

1. Basically we're all fucked for the next few years.
After that? Paybacks can, and will, be hell.

2. and tell me how the choice of a Pope fucks you up?
Are you a Catholic? Why do you even need to pay attention to the Pope?

5. the Pope has no jurisdiction over your life
The bad thing about this incessant media coverage is it gives everyone the impression that the appointment of a Pope actually has something to do with them. Unless you're a Catholic, it does not. Nothing the Pope says or does limits your actions in anyway. What we all need to be concerned about, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, and Atheists alike--is the efforts by the Christian right to use the Republican party to erode the division between Church and State.

8. I only hope that report is false
That whole incident involving Kerry made me furious. A number of Catholic clergy, Cardinal Law for example, have their own sins to worry about.

6. Zero Bolton Coverage On Corporate Media
It was All-Pope-All-The-Time on the cable networks...I didn't hear any real mention of Bolton at all in any of the newscasts I scanned past (note: I refuse to stay on either CNNServative, Faux or MSGOP for longer than needed these days...especially if I've just eaten).

Thanks to DU and other Blogs, that's where I got the heads-up to watch the C-Span coverage and then the comments that flowed here and other places. There was just too much news today and this gave the Bolton story a lot of cover, but I don't expect it to last.

The right wing hate mongers are sure to see this as a deceit by Voinovich and use this to divert from DeLay and other scandals/bad news. My wife noted that this sounds so much like Anita Hill...I kinda like that type of spectacle playing out...put Bolton back on the hot seat and do it with 10 times the media glare. Could this be another Repugnican overplay?
