Hannity should be questioned
I know this is silly, but as I watched (just a moment of the HC garbage) I saw Hannity cross the border through a hole in the wire into Mexico. He then returned to the USA side without presenting his passport.
Is there a law against this??? Does it require a certain distance to be made into a different country before you are checked when returning.
Silly, but I believe it is the law that once you leave you must show proof of residency before returning. And the Minuteman helped him.

6. But is it really silly?
I live about 35 miles from the border. When I go down there (every couple of months) I have to show an ID when I re-enter the US.doesn't matter if I am in Mexico for 3 minutes or 3 days.

At times, I have gone to the duty-free store, entered Mexico and re-entered Mexico within minutes.

8. You're trying to get a talk-show host arrested.
Who cares?

Isn't there something better to do?

9. No, I'm just saying that when you enter a foreign country........
when you re-enter you have to prove that you are a citizen of this country (down here you can show your driver's license or other ID).

If Mr. Hannity went to a foreign country, and Mexico is not a part of the US last I heard, then he should have had to prove he belonged here, just like the rest of us have to do.

11. Yeah, that's great.
Personally, if Hannity got arrested with cocaine and hookers in his car, I'd laugh, but really, who gives a shit?

Hannity is a joke. Only freeper morons take him seriously.

I can't believe I'm still posting in this thread.

13. I have never watched his show and could give a shit.........
what he says.

Just saying that what happens to the rest of us Americans, should happen to him also. Why shouldn't he have to prove he belongs here? Doesn't matter where he crosses the border.

Coke and hookers in his car? Now that would have been a good day for all of us....LOL

7. You don't have to prove anything to come back in.
I crossed from Nogales AZ to Nogales MX last year and came back in again with no proof.

They just asked a few questions about what we were doing there (eating dinner) and whether we had a good time.

10. Well if it were you or I, that would probably be true
But Hannity is a Repug and thus the law doesn't apply to him.

12. I live close to Nogales.......
and go there once every couple of months. I always have to show an ID when I re-enter. I am a WASP, nowhere close to being 'brown-skinned'.

14. Hannity is still wrong
The point is.... and it was made tongue in cheek with a certain amount of seriousness. If these people are there to apply the law to it's strictest measures, then Hannity broke it. No matter how silly or how much another poster thinks all this is, (can't recall the name) there are laws. Once he stepped into Mexico he had left the US. If for one moment this was a Democrat favored event and the guy doing the stepping into Mexico was Al Franken what would Hannity do or say? In order to return he has to show legal documentation.

In a couple of months we will all have to show a passport when coming in from Mexico or Canada.

If you crossed the border at Check Point Charlie you had to show documentation. And that was a line in the road.

17. I agree.....
is this silly? Maybe, but to those of us who go there regularly, why does he get preferential treatment? He did not go into a foreign country thru a regular checkpoint and came back the same way he left without notifying the proper authorities.....is he now an illegal since he did not go thru a legal checkpoint? I prefer to believe he just might be an illegal in this country right now.

18. Why did they do that? Maybe....
to prove how easy it is to cross the border?

Will the Border Patrol or INS be pounding on his door asking him why he didn't re-enter legally? I doubt it.

15. Sean Hannity is a complicit member of this.
Hannity was complicit in Bush fraudulent re-election I can tell from the demeanor of his voice, and the expression on his face.

That man is a mainstream media monster. He knows the exit poll results were plugged and all the nice things CNN did too....

19. To prove a point
and the letter of the law I am going to ask an attorney friend of mine what the legality of all this is.
The more I think of what Hannity has pulled in the past and the fact that on the show tonight he apparently stated that the Coulter image on Time, or she stated the fact and he agree, that it was a liberal plot to make her look bad. Now as crazy as that is, why not pursue the fact that he left and re-entered the US without doing so legally?

23. Hannity enters the US illegally
Edited on Wed Apr-20-05 03:07 PM by Oldpals
I got a reply from my attorney friend. He says that Hannity, having left the USA would legally have to produce documentation to re-enter the country. That is the law. The fact that he actually admitted to this is also evidence that he knew what he was doing.
If you are pulled over by a cop, and there is a joint in your car even though you are unaware of it's existence, because you are responsible for what is in the vehicle you control, you can be charged because of that joint.
He says that my point in fact is not silly at all. He showed on national TV that he was breaking a federal law.

to be prosecuted for this. I can see the RW headline now: "INS nabs US citizen for illegal border crossing, lets thousands of illegals through."

25. Forget the US reentry, What about entering Mexico illegally
He should be reported to the Mexican government immediately so they can start extradition proceedings.

Oh hell, I am almost salivating at the thought of Hannity spending some time in a mexican jail.

26. Hannity
I thought about the illegal entry to Mexico too. Is a US citizen in trouble if he leaves the US illegally? What is the obligation of a US citizen travelling abroad? I believe it is that they are in possession of a valid passport.
