Elizabeth Smart upset by uncle's book
Elizabeth Smart upset by uncle's book

SALT LAKE CITY – Elizabeth Smart's father said she has been forced to relive her 2002 kidnapping ordeal by the publication this week of a book co-written by her uncle.

"She has read the book," Ed Smart told The Associated Press yesterday, adding that both the words and the main cover photograph brought back memories of the nine-month abduction. "She has been through enough," he said.

"In Plain Sight: The Startling Truth Behind the Elizabeth Smart Investigation," was released Monday. Co-author Tom Smart is Ed Smart's brother.

The photograph on the book's cover shows Elizabeth three years ago while the then-14-year-old was held captive, her face under a veil.

2. boo hoo hoo
As far as I'm concerned, they're all jerks. Elizabeth included.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

8. Wow,
I'll grant you the other ones but Elizabeth? Do you have like a tiny ittly bitty black stone where your heart was supposed to go or something? Last I knew she was the victim of child rape and abduction.

3. I like this part of the review:
"Also examined is the critical role of the media, revealing the essential part played by John Walsh and others in facilitating Elizabeth's safe return, and the manipulative influence of Fox News and Bill O'Reilly."

11. Wonder what Bill O'Reilly and Faux News did - anybody know?
Since I don't watch that channel I have no idea what they're talking about.

4. It's disgusting that her own family is making $$$ off her ordeal.
Actually, it's more than disgusting, but I don't want to write what I really feel about this.

5. It Really Chaps The Ass
of parents who want to exploit their daughter's unfortunate ordeal for financial gain when other family members get in on the action.

7. I think that the family decided to write a book
because they were afraid that if they won't someone else would, with all the "literary freedom" to make it a hit.

unless she's renounced her religion, she should understand that Mormons consider making money a good thing.
