Mobilize Against Privatization! Thousands Expected to Rally for Social Security
Despite public polling showing strong opposition to Social Security privatization, the nearly united opposition of anti-privatization members and the strong substantive case against privatization on the facts, President George Bush and his Congressional allies are moving forward with a legislative process in the Senate Finance Committee, which they expect to result in a privatization bill by July.

On Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 1:00 pm thousands will rally at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC to coincide with the long awaited Senate Finance Committee's hearing that will discuss proposals to privatize Social Security. "National Day of Unity to Protect Social Security and Stop Privatization" rally is sponsored by Americans United to Protect Social Security, in partnership with the Alliance for Retired Americans. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will lead Democratic members of Congress joining thousands of concerned citizens of all ages in a powerful and united display of opposition to any privatization plan that would undermine Social Security. Anyone who believes Social Security should not be replaced with risky private accounts is encouraged to attend!
