No. I am NOT going to go buy Beanie Babies for Iraqi children.
I just got a whiny assed letter from our local Dem group telling me that the local churches and such are collecting toys for the Iraqi children.

What the hell ever. I suppose if buying (I am not a parent; I assume they don't want used cat toys) a 10 dollar stuffed toy made in China for .47 cents appeases some people's guilt, then fine...buy the damned thing and mail it on over.

I personally am just sick to fucking death of being part of a party that voted to tear a country up, and now am getting letters from them acting like a bunch of bleeding heart whiners asking me for toys for the kids of a country that we ripped to shreds.

I am assuming that Iraqi kids might enjoy things that American kids might enjoy....a home that is not bombed out, parents who are there...schools that are intact...and dinner.

Jesus Christ on rollerblades......a huge number of OUR children don't have a decent house, decent parents, decent healthcare, and decent schools....so, we spend our money to bomb out other kids, and then buy them fucking BEANIE BABIES made in sweatshops in China????

Screw that.

3. Good for you
It sounds like you have therefore made a decision to make a charitable donation to OUR children. I don't disagree.

That voted to bomb Iraq?

Not sure. But it was my local Dem group
that supported the Dem Senators that voted to get us into this mess.

I am ashamed to tears.

6. The children of Iraq probably need artificial limbs, medical
supplies, wheelchairs, clean water and bullet proof vests more than they need toys. If the country was safe and had public utilities they could make their own toys, now that they aren't spending all their time making WMD's and those devious rolling laboratories.

7. I would politely write them back and tell them
that there is nothing worse than charity which really accomplishes nothing other than to make the "giver" feel better without really contributing to the "given" and therefore you will not participate.

At some time in the future, should they wish to raise funds for things that actually make a difference for Iraqi children, you would be happy to participate, but a "beanie baby" after we have bombed out the infrastructure in their nation such as schools and services is meaningless pablum used as a tax deduction.

8. It reminds me of the South Park episode where they got the
school children to all send a dollar to the Afghan children who were destitute and bombed out of their homes.

Stan: A-ah, hi. We're from America. Uh, we sent you the dollar? Uh, the four dollars? Yu, you sent us this goat?
Akmarh: Goat?
Goat: Ma-a-a-a-a.
Stan: Here. Wu-we don't want it.
Akmarh: Oh, you want something alse? All we had was the goat. Your country bombed everything else.
Stan: No, dude, we're n- we're not ungrateful. It's just... none of us can keep the goat
Cartman: It was choking on the sweet air of freedom in America, so we brought it back to your crappy country.
Stan: Oh uh, and here. Take this American flag as... a gift.
Afghan Boys: Yaaay.

9. Maybe an appropriate gift
is if we'd get the hell out of their country.
