Jane Fonda is on "Real Time With Weasel Maher" right now
And she's exhibiting remarkable style and intelligence and class. She essentially shrugged off the spitter in Missouri the other day, and said so many Vietnam vets have greeted her warmly during her book tour.

She is emphatically unrepentant, though, about having gone to Vietnam, and pointed out that she has apologized only for posing for that photo of her sitting on that gun. She pointedly reflected on the lies and deceptions of the Nixon administration during that time.

Now, she's ripping Ratface's administration a new one, and she absolutely refuses to concede any moral ground to Nixon, Kissinger, and all those ratbastards who caused so many deaths in Vietnam, as well as the liars currently squatting illegally in the White House.

Damn, she's GREAT! I am impressed, and I've never been a fan. She has really got it together.

convictions and forthright personality for a long time

she deeply regrets posing for that photo but aside from that she is also bursting with integrity and intelligence and subtle humor to get across her awesome beliefs

for many years back she has been involved with so many womens and childrens groups. and not just financially either

i love a good and true fighter and she is that

Jane Fonda has more intelligence in her little finger than Bush has in his whole body. She's a real compassionate; he only plays one on TV.

I always felt as though she was on OUR side in that clusterfuck. The assholes in charge use enlisted men like kleenex.

18. I'm glad to hear the vets support Jane...
she's terrific and I've never understood the animosity towards her.

Btw...Pepperbelly-is clusterf-ck a Navy word? I've only ever heard my DH use it and he's a Navy Vet too. LOL.

8. She was indeed quite smart, classy.
I confess I didn't really know much about Jane Fonda - I only knew vaguely that she had drawn the ire of many on the right for protesting the war and traveling to North Vietnam. In any case, she left a fantastic impression on me as someone who defies the stereotype of the hippie protester.

14. Most people don't know much about Ms. Fonda...Except what they
hear and are fed by the same republican owned corporate media, they profess to despise...Yet they make judgements, on a great liberal and pretend they know all the facts...Jane was sincere, truthful and wonderful!

Can't say much more, 'cept she was real and as always very, very sharp, and I adore her.

10. A week ago today Jane Fonda was on The Dianne Rehm Show --

-- and she just shone like the sun.

I wish I'd seen her tonight.

She is the cat's pajamas as far as I'm concerned. I hope she sells forty trillion copies of that book and makes some more movies, too.

Hurray for Jane Fonda.

(Hey, OldLeftieLawyer -- howdy & thanks for this great post on a great woman!)

17. I wasn't going to buy her book
Six hundred pages about her life seemed like a bit more than I wanted to know.

Isn't it funny how one event can change a mind?

Now, six hundred pages doesn't seem nearly enough.

(Hey, my favorite other Oldie - how you doing?)

20. Hi again & good morning!
I might have to get that book, too. She's a compelling soul and I'm interested in what she has to say.

Doin' ok. How about you? Are you encouraged by Republicans bolting on Bolton, or will he hold on and slip thru after all?

I'm reading Gore Vidal's JULIAN again. Wow. Mighty fine stuff.

Good vibes to you, OldLeftie Lawyer. I really appreciated this post on Jane Fonda.

This is the place - I honestly believe - where the Democrats have their only chance to assert their strength and find their balls. Karl Rove's team is already sliming Voinovich with TV and radio ads, and I'm hoping and praying that Dr. Dean and people like Boxer and Kerry, et al., will rise up and start getting up off their knees.

Gore Vidal's one of my favorites, too. Have you read his "Dreaming War" and "Perpetual War For Perpetual Peace"? I think it's time for me to re-read them. Brilliant commentaries and observations.

Yep, I bought Jane's book earlier today. Had to. Just had to.

11. I'm sure lots of Vets saw her and were perfectly nice
But as usual nobody wants to report good news. I thought not pressing charges on the guy was the ultimate classy move. never been a huge fan but I applaud her honesty in only apologizing for the photo and not the trip. It would have been easy to cop out after being hammered on for so many years.

Yikes 999 posts, gotta go prepare my 1000th.
