In my paper the letters are on the whole, against Bush. Of course there is one that, oh well you can read them yourself.

So here is a sample of the letters to the editor. Please post your paper's good bad and ugly letters.

DON'T LINK CHURCH, STATE ON FILIBUSTER

The article in the April 16 Herald-Leader about Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist speaking at a Louisville church dismayed me.

Frist and some Baptist religious leaders are claiming that the judiciary is out of control and that their conservative social agenda is not being heard. They propose to rally Southern Baptists to pressure their elected representatives to change the Senate rules and prevent filibustering to block contentious judicial appointments.

BUSH AND BANKRUPTCY

Our dearly beloved president, Dubya, which is a rich man's way of saying "Bubba," has made another gaffe. He signed the bankruptcy bill and said, "Americans are used to paying their bills." This from a man whose daddy gave him two companies that he promptly led into bankruptcy. I guess Dubya paid his bills?

And finally, I wonder what this guy thinks of all the innocents killed in bush's war.

Culture of life

Congress will soon discuss legislation to fund human-cloning and embryonic stem-cell research.

Embryos are sacrificed in both processes in the effort to cure other people. These embryos -- developing babies, living human beings -- are killed in the process of extracting stem cells.

1. Ours are usually overwhelmingly
from progressives. But this past week, since that idiot spit on Jane Fonda, we have been deluged with letters from veterans supporting the spitter. It happened here in KC and the swift boat mentality has taken over the LTTE page.

Hopefull this too shall pass.

2. I quit taking the paper a year ago;
after 25 years of reading the LTTEs, I can tell you that it never varies. There are a couple of well-meaning progressive letters, and a dump-truck of hard-core right-wing christian fascist stuff. Some written on their own, and many shredding the brave progressive writers into bloody pieces like the pack of attack dogs they are.

3. Same here. I've stopped getting the local paper it was so
right wing. The letters trashing Abraham Lincoln for freeing the slaves kind of made me puke. (But I did get it long enough to watch a bunch of conservative politicians get into trouble.)

4. There was a Baptist news conference in Louisville yesterday to
separate the majority of local and national churches from the unConstitutional event. The ministers were quite vocal in their opposition and called on the Highview Baptist Church to cancel the event.

5. Let it happen, the more the Totalitarian Right is exposed to the
light of day, the better.
