Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 08:31 AM by Telly Savalas
It's obvious that us sleazy Democrats would be abusing it when we were in the minority, so perhaps they should have spoke up on the issue when it was clearly a matter of principle and not an issue of convenience.

How do they respond to this charge? Or have none of the gasbag talking heads never brought it up?

Edit to add: It's this NY Times article about Cheney's bellyaching that got me thinking about this. What a bunch of whiners.

1. Because it didn't benefit THEIR purposes?
BONUS QUESTION: In the event that Democrats manage to regain majority control... how many Republicans will start to complain about not having the ability to use the filibuster?

2. That's what I'm sayin'.
How do they respond when confronted with the argument that they merely oppose the filibuster on the grounds that it is presently inconvenient to them? Or is every single pundit on TV too damn lazy to ask such an obvious question?

3. Every Single Pundit is too Damn Lazy: There are no TRUE TV Reporters
The "only" authentic reporters I find these days on TV are Int'l, like the BBC... we're on HIGH LEVEL PUKE-ALERT in this country.

5. So why aren't Democrats harping on it when they're on TV?
Or have they? (Sorry. Don't watch much U.S. politics on TV, because seeing top level GOPers makes me very angry and undermines my emotional, physical, and spiritual health.)

Quite a few Democratic Senators, notably Boxer, Kerry, and Reid, have been doing a decent job of criticizing the Republicans. It seems to me that the GOP is hanging a breaking ball over the plate with this issue. The Dems ought to be able to knock it out of the park.

4. Think Healthcare plan, black judge nominees
I'd like to shove that in the GOPs face, they only come back with "you hate America"
