A serious question about foreign intervention/influence in our elections

there are emerging, solid democracies in South and Central America. Guys like Chavez are pretty baltently opposing the forces of evil coming from some quarters of the US establishment (bushco).

Is it possible ..... reasonable ..... likely ..... legal ..... whatever ..... for those in support of these democracies to try to sway a portion of our electorate away from the RW?

I'm not talking about revolution or guns or payola, or anything underhanded. I'm thinking more along the lines of public statements in support of an oppostion (dem) candidate in our elections. I'm talking about informing the US Hispanic population (in particular) the folly of supporting the RW. That sort of thing.

Is this possible? Helpful? Legal?

Might such endorsements hurt our side, rather than help?
