It's all about the grassroots, baby |

Yesterday I went to a Democratic Party picnic, sponsored by my local Democratic Club, which I joined about a year ago. WOW!!! We need more events like these. We rented a local, privately owned park with a petting zoo and a train for the kids. The firefighters barbecued for us. (By the way, this is the third fundraiser I've been to where the firefighters did the cooking on their own time). We had an open bar. Food was great, drinks were great. Oh yeah, there was a DJ and a local singer who could be the next huge star. All for five bucks.
Many local assembly people and politicians spoke briefly, after they finished serving in the chow line. That was fun. I was handed a barbecued chicken breast by Simon Salinas. Those of you from the South Bay in CA may know who he is.
We need more of this people. It was great. Has anyone been to similar parties in their area? I really think that some "on the fence" voters that attended will become hardcore Dems because of this. :toast:

I know some of you have attended/hosted some grassroots events. C'mon, share! We need more of these at the local level as we head into 2006!
