Framing the debate... what Dems need to be saying about *... |
|
All this claptrap about Bush’s judiciary nominees and, for example, his choice for U. N. ambassador should all be seen in a new perspective and a proper Dem même constructed from it. All I have heard so far has been a reactive, knee-jerk reaction to Bush’s nominees on the part of the Democrats (be it judiciary or otherwise), but we have not taken control of the dialogue. I just heard Bill Richardson on CNN introduce his objections to Bolton’s nomination with, “Well, the President should be allowed to name his 'man', but…” , and then continued with some extremely weak arguments against the nomination (and mainly defeated by his own introduction). This is just piss poor, totally ineffectual, and unacceptable... but it is the spineless approach of most leading Democrats today.
The point that needs to be made (and made very strongly and stringently) is the fact that Bush has an abominable history of making very poor decisions and using terrible judgment! It needs to be made clear that Bush cannot be trusted on any issue… and NO WONDER he is opposed at every turn. The Democrats really have no other choice but to vehemently oppose him. His history demands it!
Based on the consequences of every Bush policy heretofore made, whether it be the war on Iraq, tax cuts, education, the environment, etc. ad infinitum, any decision or appointment that he makes must be suspect… MUST BE!
When will the Democrat leadership learn to take control of truth-telling? This stuff is not made up… we have every reasonable argument on our side, we are just not using it. It’s time for us to step up to the plate and start popping some home runs!

2. So far Dean seems to be pretty good at getting to the real truth of the |
|
issues and telling it like it is. If people are not hearing about it, it is only because the media is not publicizing his words.

Mr. Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, had EVERY opportunity to use the very same strategies and dialog that Dean uses... and on NATIONAL TELEVISON! Sadly, he chose NOT TO. That, my friend is the point. National Dems DO have a stage from time to time in the media... but unfortuntately they do not take it!

4. You're right! Check this out and tell me if I've got it right. |

Out of 205 nominees, the Dems only blcked 10.
Resident Bu$h is polling a 45% approval rate.
Doesn't that mean the Democrats embrace Bush's nominees twice as much as the whole country embraces Bush himself?!

5. His plummeting approval ratings... |
|
should just be more fuel for the fire. Why isn't our Democratic leadership taking advanatage of even that?

Instead of limping to the table, boldly say it like it is & force the cons to defend volumes of offenses. I love it!!

8. I think they all should start taking Ginko because there's a memory |
|
problem.
Kerry was never so attractive as when he came back fast and hard in the debates -- even last week in the Bolton confirmation hearing.
But, we're back to "picking our fights". That means, we're back to letting the RWingers make a huge pile that we then approach with a tea spoon. It's like that lesson never happened.
Some of that really does have to do with having people who actually take the time to THINK, lol, but I don't see it as a strategy that will gain us any ground.
