This Catholic and Protestant coming together bothers me |
|
I've heard the new Pope mention unifying catholics and protestants and just listening to a guy a few minutes ago mentioning something similar on this 'justice bs'.
This is one of those things that just bugs me on so many levels. For some it sounds so great, but to me it sounds like a unification of sorts for christianity as a whole.
Am I paranoid?

1. this is what my bitch has been since summer |
|
and here and there i became more outraged at behaviors that have absolutely pointed to the coalition between the catholics and baptist to take over the nation.
has nothing to do with people practicing their religion, it has all to do with the powerful becoming more powerful and abusing that power

2. No, it's like the Crips and Bloods making an alliance |
|
Each thinks their side will be top dog, calling the shots. Won't happen. When there are fundamental differences in belief, you first have to change belief, and I really don't see anything like that happening anytime soon. Both teams are too entrenched.

I do not like this merging of Catholics and evangelicals. I post on a small Catholic website and most of them love all this judicial tryanny nonsense.
The Democrats need a new approach to Roe v. Wade (that's why the Catholics are in it). It's time to say that the ruling will not be overruled so what do we do now. As long as the door remains open, nearly half of the Catholics will side with the fundies.
Evangelicals have a leadership which, as individuals, can benefit financially from keeping the fake "war on faith" going. The Catholic leadership isn't doing it for the financial benefit. In America, it's just some Cardinals.

6. Bernard doesn't really mean it |
|
The church made steps towards ecumenicism under John Paul II, and Ratzinger was not as enthusiastic as JPII about it. So Pope Bernard is just assuring liberal Catholics and Protestants that he isn't going to do a complete 180 degree turn on the ecumenical efforts. This is not a program he's initiating, he's just assuring people he won't stop it since liberal Catholics think he wants to.
Bernard is probably thinking more of the Eastern Orthodox churches and the Anglican churches and SSPX and whatnot rather than say the Methodist church. Or the "Old Catholic" church. No one in Rome is thinking about a Catholic/ELCA merger, trust me.

You are paranoid, who cares what they do. You realize of coarse they are all Christians. Most are probably Christians in name only (Cino), my wife and I left the Protestant faith because it was too political and watered down. We goto church where we want and if ever approached to join I tell them I'm not giving up my visitor parking spot.
ETA I read another post and learned I am now an Evangelical, never been to one of those though.
