Totally pointless 1000th post
So here we are 1000 posts later and I'm still as pissed off as I was after post 1. More in fact. Before I go on my 1000th post rant I'd like to thank Skinner, the Mods and all you DU'ers for providing
an oasis of sanity in a world gone mad. You guys rock! Now on with the ranting.

I think, therefore I am liberal.

**Um.. a note to lurking freepers, here's the definition of Liberal from dictionary.com:**

Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
Of, relating to, or characteristic of liberalism.
Liberal Of, designating, or characteristic of a political party founded on or associated with principles of social and political liberalism, especially in Great Britain, Canada, and the United States.
Tending to give freely; generous: a liberal benefactor.
Generous in amount; ample: a liberal serving of potatoes, (freedom fries)

I have read on the freeper site how liberal is defined in the dictionary as "not constrained to morals". I looked in every dictionary I could find and could not find that juicy little tidbit of "definition" so I thought I'd let you guys in on the reality of the situtation...

***now back to our rant***
I think, therefore I am compassionate.
I think, therefore I am progressive.
I think, therefore I am independant.
I think, therefore I question.
I think, therefore I do not descriminate.
I think, therefore I do not force my views upon others.
I think, therefore when I see Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage, Medved, Hume or any of those other morans I want to :puke:
I think, therefore I am not easily fooled.
I think, therefore fool me twice, shame on me.
I think, therefore I am NOT THE GODDAMN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!
I think, therefore I am not going to do 1000 of these.
I think, therefore I am, according to some, a traitor, un-patriotic, treasonous, Anti-American, stupid, and a host of other fun things.
Well, I have a few choice words for you wonderful extreme right wing and religious fanatics, and I say this with the utmost respect:

BLOW IT OUT YOUR TIGHT ASS, YOU UPTIGHT, CONFORMIST, BRAIN DEAD, FASCIST BLOWHARDS! ONCE YOUR SHIP SINKS, (AND THATS ALL IT CAN DO WHEN YOUR CAPTAIN IS A MORONIC TWAT SURROUNDED BY CRIMINALS AND LIARS) I'M GOING TO TAKE ALL THOSE CUTE LITTLE RIBBONS AND THOSE HILARIOUS "PURPLE HEART" BANDAIDS, AND I'M GOING TO WRAP THEM AROUND A BASEBALL BAT. THEN I'M GOING TO HAND THAT BAT, ALONG WITH A LIST OF ALL THE CUTS YOU HAVE MADE TO VETERANS BENEFITS, TO A VETERAN WHO IS SUFFERING FROM DEPLETED URANIUM EXPOSURE AND I'M GOING TO STAND THERE AND LAUGH WHEN HE SHOVES THAT BASEBALL BAT UP YOUR TIGHT LITTLE EXTREMIST ASS WHILE SCREAMING "SUPPORT THIS YOU CLUELESS FUCKS"!

That should about cover it I guess.

I think, therefore I am.... a proud member of DU. Thanks again everyone.

6. first off congrats.
secondly. if the first six months of the second administration is any indication of things to come, we should be looking at 2006 as the year for vindication. patience is a hard thing in this fast world, but it does reward.

9. Right behind you. And about all that thinking . . . Watch OUT!
Edited on Sun Apr-24-05 09:52 PM by texastoast
It started out innocently enough.
I began to think at parties now and then-- to loosen up.

Inevitably, though, one thought led to another, and soon I was more
than just a social thinker.

I began to think alone -- "to relax," I told myself -- but I knew it
wasn't true. Thinking became more and more important to me, and finally
I was thinking all the time.

That was when things began to sour at home. One evening I had turned
off the TV and asked my wife about the meaning of life. She spent that
night at her mother's.

I began to think on the job. I knew that thinking and employment don't
mix, but I couldn't stop myself.

I began to avoid friends at lunchtime so I could read Thoreau and
Kafka. I would return to the office dizzied and confused, asking,
"What is it exactly we are doing here?"

One day the boss called me in. He said, "Listen, I
like you, and it hurts me to say this, but your thinking has become a
real problem. If you don't stop thinking on the job, you'll have to
find another job."

This gave me a lot to think about.

I came home early after my conversation with the boss. "Honey," I
confessed, "I've been thinking..."

"I know you've been thinking," she said, "and I want
a divorce!"

"But Honey, surely it's not that serious."

"It is serious," she said, lower lip a quiver. "You think as much as
college professors, and college professors don't make any money, so if
you keep on thinking, we won't have any money!"

"That's a faulty syllogism," I said impatiently.

She exploded in tears of rage and frustration, but I was in no mood to
deal with the emotional drama.

"I'm going to the library," I snarled as I stomped out the door. I
headed for the library, in the mood for some Nietzsche.

I roared into the parking lot with NPR on the radio and ran up to the
big glass doors...

They didn't open. The library was closed.

To this day, I believe that a Higher Power was looking out for me that
night. Leaning on the unfeeling glass, whimpering for Zarathustra, a
poster caught my eye.

"Friend, is heavy thinking ruining your life?" it asked.

You probably recognize that line. It comes from the
standard Thinker's Anonymous poster.

Which is why I am what I am today: a recovering
thinker. I never miss a TA meeting. At each meeting we watch a
non-educational video; last week it was "Porky's." Then we share
experiences about how we avoided thinking since the last meeting.

I still have my job, and things are a lot better at
home. Life just seemed...easier, somehow, as soon as I stopped
thinking. I think the road to recovery is nearly complete for me.

Today, I registered to vote as a Republican.

NOT REALLY!

And congratulations. We need more people to keep up the passion you show.
