10. exactly right
once again, Levin's words are being twisted. Why, I don't know, but Levin is also being targeted by people like Rush Limbaugh recently.

2. Levin knows exactly what he is doing.
Bulldog 'in their faces' tactics are not going to help him get his investigation up and running. Give the man some credit and watch. :)

24. Levin's perfect for this, and is doing it masterfully
It's worth noting that many Michigan Republicans (my Step-mom, for one) truly trust this man.

This is not only good politics, it's tricky showmanship: to give Junior the benefit of the doubt will allow everyone to amp up the dudgeon when he's "discovered" to be up to his neck in it. To have the stance of the gentle crusader for truth (which Carl Levin is; he's truly an honorable man, and is living proof against the "they're all whores" argument.

It's concern for the credibility and viability of our intelligence that's the proclaimed impetus for this investigation. It's sort of like calling some "Night and Fog" decree "The Patriot Act": who could be against fiding out the truth of mistakes that have hurt the country?

3. because it probably wasnt the President
its just that hes too much of a doof.

So his handlers & staff frame his decisions and do his analyeses.

Sort of like Reagan....a modus operendi that led to Iran/Contra.

Levin is playing a sharp game here

4. I agree completely
Going ballistic blaming Bush is the wrong tactic at this point. I trust Levin on this.

14. Levin has been around many
show downs - big ones - with the GOP both in the senate and across to Pennsylvania avenue. Was a tough bird back in the 80s when I spent some time on the hill. Very effective at what he does. Perceived by friends and foe alike as perceptive, intelligent and full of integrity.

I am proud that I had the chance to vote for him as a senator a number of years ago (during my stay in Michigan).

20. Thank you Salin
Yep, Levin knows what he is doing alright. I knew when he said that the hue and cry would be raised but I saw it for what it was.

It is so that the Freepers and Dittoheads of the world cannot simply proclaim this is a Get Shorty thing. Plus I think Levin is taking special delight in making Condi the Liar dance. ;-)

6. If anyone can do this, it's Levin
He's smart, patient, and I think he's working on a plan to take down the whole misadministration, like a Michigan timber wolf bringing down an elk by going for the hamstring.

(Did I mention he's from Michigan? My home state?) You go, Carl!

15. I'll say it again: Bush is an ignorant puppet.
Lawrence O'Donnell on McLaughlin had it right: the scary thing is that Bush can't recognize faulty intelligence. As I said earlier, Bush would've read 'Jaberwocky' in the SOTUA, had it been on the teleprompter. This is the VP's office and the DoD all the way.

13. Of course everyone in Iran Contra got off too
I have heard about the Dems playing it smart and cautiously for sooooo long now while the tragedies just keep piling up. If they keep painting Bush as an angel, like they did with Reagan, it will have the same outcome.

16. Levin
I agree--Levin did an admirable job on Wolf today. He made
some salient points about the need for an in-depth
investigation. He did point the finger at Condoleeza Rice and
said that this was not an isolated incident with the CIA. I
believe Cheney and Rice and Rumsfeld were behind the
falsification of the speech. Bush just looks like a fool.
But, th buck does stop with the President and he will be
called to account.

17. Because Levin is a lot smarter than you seem to think he is.
Levin will get nothing from Bush. He knows that. He is hoping to goad the CIA into revealing information to defend itself. And it it is working. If he had just gone after Bush we wouldn't know what we know today!

25. Levin for VP?
I know everybody likes to take a defeated Dem and put them #2 on the ticket. But, that is not necessary.

What about Senator Carl Levin for VP?
