I saw something AWESOME today, made me happy
I walked into Walden Books in one of the local malls (Akron, Ohio) and they have there bestseller shelf up in the front of the store. All Frankin at #1, Hillary at #4, Conason's book at #8, Stupid White Men at #13.

I asked the girl up front whether or not this was a national ranking. She replied that while Frankin's book was #1 nationally, there display was representative of how many books the stores that owned Walden were selling.

Her comment, "Go look for the Coulter book, it's not up there. We sent back about 50 of them last week."

2. My faith in the American people is once again justified
though I'm sure the pundits will take this as evidence of the liberal-slanting publishing industry.

8. Haha wrong John Edwards

I assure you the “religious right” is crapping their pants in anger over this book’s success.

I’m glad to see near the top. Maybe Americans are beginning to see that something other than $$$ is important?

7. The left reads and has always read
The right just watches TV and listens to hate radio. Keep on reading folks, our side has plenty to say. Maybe if they only pick up sound bites the center may actually pick up a book or two. We have to fight in every arena.

Here's a good article on the trend:

Liberal Authors Triumphant as US Bookshelves Lean Left

In a sales surge that surprised politicians and booksellers alike, five liberal books will be among The New York Times's top 15 hard-cover nonfiction bestsellers on today's list, mounting what some sales specialists see as a left-wing assault on the conservatives' decade-long hold on popular culture.

Until now, book publishing -- like talk radio and opinion magazines -- was dominated by right-wing political titles, including polemics by the leading radio and television pundits. The airwaves, bestseller lists, and the opinion press were widely viewed as links in a network that helped prompt investigations of President Clinton and assisted the elections of a Republican House, Senate, and presidency.

13. Don't forget, Coulter outsold Hillary, according to Pretty Boy
I think the time period was several nanoseconds one unspecified afternoon, when Little Arfin' Annie actually sold one of her Cottonelle substitutes.
