A Senate Democratic Agenda? Be still my beating heart! |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 04:10 PM by Heaven and Earth
So, ok, apparently there is a senate provision allowing any senator to put any bill on the floor calender without a committee hearing by objecting to its being sent to committee after the second reading of said bill. So Reid and his cohorts have/are going to put a Democratic Agenda on the calender this way if Reps go nuclear. Normally, they don't do this out of respect for the committee system, but if Reps take off the gloves, its a license for Dems to do the same.
BYE BYE 'OBSTRUCTIONISM' CHARGE! HELLO, UNPOPULAR VOTES FOR REPUBLICANS!
Hallelujah!

Senators!
I saw something about this this morning and have been all a quiver since then. Seriously, this sounds good. I liked the agenda I saw too.
I had my doubts about Senator Reid but he has really put them aside. It sounds to me like he does not like to roll over and play dead.

5. What Would Stop Them From Changing That Rule Too? |
|
If they only need a majority to change the rules, what would stop them from repealing that provision on a majority vote?

Watch them try to defend that in 2006. Then it is they who are obstructionists
