I need helping finding sources of information about socialized medicine. |
|
I want to do a term paper on it, but our library doesn't contain a lot of books about the socialized medicine of countries like Canada or Western European countries.
Also, if any of you are from Canada I might like to use a few quotes about what you like about your healthcare system and what you think needs to be improved. If your a doctor, that is a bonus. :)

of socialized medicine. The most I remember is from economics and the models there showed that Medicare was both more equitable and more efficient (fairer and costs less) than the private model.
Plus because the monopoly powers are given to the governments..they can get better deals out of doctors and pharmaceutical corporations. And most models allow for the private market to take place wherever socialized medicine does not do the job better.
Preventive health care and saving corporations & small business money are some of the pluses. Preventive health care (people going to the doctor regularly and getting tested regularly) saves money on chronic illness in the end.
I think France has a good system too.
You may want to look into the studies done when Hillary Clinton was trying to implement the program in the 1990s. But then again I am sure Big Pharma has erased any notion of that.
Goggle Public Goods + economics. I don't know.. not very much help...

5. I don't have the link, but a recent Slate article... |
|
the article indicated that veterans receive better health care (on average) through VA hospitals at a much cheaper price, which is a nationalized system, than the average US citizen, despite the fact that vets are generally less healthy than the rest of the population.
Granted, there is a wide difference between different VA hospitals... but, it was on average.
