Any Senator who supports the nuclear option IS THE ENEMY |
|
and should be treated that way! This is the ultimate lithmus test. If this thing goes to a vote, we will find out who's in bed with the far right and who isn't. Any Republican who supports the nuclear option is one of the very dangerous ones, and should be treated as such. While I'm not a fan of the "circular firing squad" mentality, I will make an exception if any Democrat supports Frist's assault on the Courts! There is no middle ground on this issue. An impartial judicial branch is our last line of defense against voters and politicians who don't care about civil rights or the Constitution!

I'm not usually one for lithmus tests, but this issue encompasses so many other issues. It has the potential to affect all civil rights issues for the next 50 years or so. It's just too important.

3. I agree with you. We should replace candidates... |
|
...who support the nuclear option with candidates who support the nuclear option, elimination of social programs, aggressive foreign policy, less bankruptcy protection, and banning of abortion.

progressive candidate in the general election. The primaries would be the place to settle this if a Democrat were to do the unthinkable! My point is that support of the nuclear option is the ultimate right-wing position, probably the most destructive one we've seen in a long time. Supporting the nuclear option is like flushing all civil rights down the toilet. No liberal or moderate has any reason to do it! I live in California, and I'm proud to say that both of my Senators oppose Frist's plans!

6. If you are a true Dem... |
|
you support all of the policies of the party. You don't vote with the Rethugs on this or any other issue that your party opposes. Any Dem in congress, ESPECIALLY on this issue who disagrees with the party should be replaced by a TRUE Dem and not one who votes against the party. Period.

9. That's as it should be! |
|
That actually makes my point! The fact that Democratic Senators will most likely vote as a unit proves how important this issue is. NO Democrat should support the nuclear option! Like I said before, I'm not a fan of the "circular firing squad". I like both progressive Democrats and moderate Democrats, the Kuciniches and the Clintons. My point is that anybody who would vote for the nuclear option is not liberal or moderate. It is a purely radical right wing position!
