Anchor Judy Woodruff Leaving CNN in June

Judy Woodruff joined CNN in 1993, and was a frequent anchor for breaking stories.

NEW YORK (April 28) - Judy Woodruff, the anchor of CNN's ''Inside Politics,'' is leaving the network when her contract expires in June.

Woodruff, 58, said Thursday that she hoped to teach, write and work on long-form documentaries. She'll also be a consultant and occasional contributor to CNN.

''This gives me the opportunity to sit back, take a deep breath and think about what I want to do,'' Woodruff told The Associated Press. ''I do want to stay in journalism. I'm not leaving journalism. I'm just leaving daily journalism.''

CNN offered Woodruff a new contract, but she had decided to leave before those discussions began.<snip>

She probably IS rich--we should definatly resent her for that. Good call.

7. plastic surgery
next time you watch her focus on her neck. The skin on her face is tight while the neck is extremely wrinkled and somewhat sagging. Not trying to belittle her just pointing out the obvious. FWIW

4. Now maybe I'm wrong
But she only worsened in the last year or so. Maybe, I hope, I hope she is tired of whoring for this regime and will get herself back on track.

23. Help me- who is her husband again?
I was like a poster down thread. I used to be hooked on Inside Politics, but the bush years have made the show despiccable.

25. Al Hunt
Who, while not necessarily liberal enough for some people here (and who is), is certainly not "sucking on the corporate teat."

9. I know she's a tool of the dark side, but...
Back in 2000 when I was only 14, she was part of the reason I really got interested in politics, went fanatic for the whole Presidential campaign, and did whatever I could to support Gore. I was bored in the summer, flipping through the channels and landed on Inside Politics. I was hooked. I watched it everyday, never missed it, and I know it was probably my youthful naivete, but I absolutely loved her and thought she was great.

I've been extremely disappointed in (some of) the things she's said and done as of late, and now that I'm older it's obvious she's not the person to go to for fair and balanced coverage, but I'll always be grateful for her role on that program, and as corny as it sounds, how she effected my life.

Best of luck Judy Woodruff.

16. She was RUTHLESS during the primaries.
Kissed Bush's ass like there was no tomorrow. The sad thing IS, Judy, her husband and their 4 year old son were having dinner in a restaurant and a DRUNK George W. Bush (this was before he stole the WH) walked up to their table and made some rude remarks about an article Hunt had written about Bush. Bush swore at them in front of their little boy. Even after THAT, she shilled for Bush. :( IMCPO, she should have done just the opposite. I'm glad she's leaving and just hope they replace her with someone better! Phil Donahue? maybe? :loveya: I can hope!

there are MANY worse who could replace her.

despite what's spewed here and at freep republic, judy was on balance, an extremely fair journalist, on and off the tv screen.

you guys just better hope candy crowley and her ilk aren't a replacement...

if the rightwingers at cnn dc have their say, though, she, or someone like her, will be.

much worse than Woodruff. But you know it'll be someone that will shill for this admin.

22. no way in hell was Woodruff "fair"
at least in the last four years and primarily in the lead up to and including the 2004 presidential election.

Some have speculated that since she was publicly threatened ( with husband Al Hunt) by Shrub Bush in a public restaurant she maybe kissed up to them for fear of having her career and reputation destroyed. Knowing how these creeps work I think that could very well be a plausible explanation.

As someone within this thread mentioned maybe she will come back around and try to set the record straight (then again perhaps not). One thing is for sure though, Woodruff did everything she could to destroy the Dem chances of winning election. She also did her best to derail and alienate Wes Clark during his Democratic primary run.

No sympathy from me, bye bye Judy!

29. But...but...but...
who will tell us who to vote for?

I kept track... Wes was in first or second place in every state in the United States, and Judy Woof never said Clark's name for 19 days. 19 fucking Clark Never Named days. I really hate that bitch.

17. Um, whoa. I had no idea there was so much, um, animosity against her.
She never came off as a right-wing advocate to me. Yes, she obviously did as she was told,...that was obvious. But,....hmmmm,...

Oh, well. I hope that she does feel free to take a stand on important issues now that she has more freedom to do so.
