Could we start a group for :Recovering Republicans |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 07:59 PM by warrior1
Recovering Republicans
All of the conversion of republicans to democrats or independents and people witnessing republicans tearing off bumper sticker or some other 'fed up with bush' responses from former republicans. I hate missing those inspirational stories. When things seem bad, and the world is on the brink of destruction it really picks up my day that maybe there's hope.

1. Sounds like a great idea (I thought you meant R. Reagan)! |
|
This is almost a pro-active move, because I think we'll see more and more of them in the coming months. Although I'm not a RR myself, I WAS one of the Recovering after a brief stint into fundamentalism during young adulthood.
I think it would be great if people would share their "moments of recognition" and whatnot, and maybe we can also find out what makes people wake up from participating in this national (and int'l) nightmare.
I couldn't claim myself as a member, but I'd love to be a lurker on such a forum...

3. I think a forum for this |
|
and for moderate/conservative Democrats isn't necessarily a bad idea.
Sometimes the stuff in GD gets dirty.

or choose a side/name. Remember when you didn't know about that stuff. You played and learn stuff. Now I'm not sure what I did know, but I know this. I didn't come from a conserative or democratic family. I learned this on my own at about 15 or 16 during the Vietnam war. Just about that time I started my first job the war ended.
I don't know, it's just that some American's think they know stuff and now they're finding out that they've been lied too. Must be a pretty scary place to live. Misery loves company.

I do have a story for you too. My son, he's 20 in college and works at Kohl's part time came home from work this afternoon and a coworker who is a Republican, his whole family is, comes up to him and tells him how sorry he is he ever voted for 'that idiot'. His family are all republicans and they are all switching parties. His hours have been cut back and he needs the money for tuition, his father lost his job at GE and now they may need to end up going on welfare. They feel like they were screwed and they are mad. It's hard to feel much sympathy for them, I know my son talked and talked to him about what * was doing and how different Kerry was from him and he just kept saying that they were Republicans and how they would never vote for a dem. They are seeing the light but about six months too late, we are stuck with * for another 3 1/2 yrs now.

if this is happening on a much greater level it could effect the 2006 election. They if we could take the house back we could impeach. That might be inspiration for people to wake up and help us take back this country.

don't think we can do it with help from RR. Remember during the Democratic convention and the overhead was giving stories about RR voting for John Kerry? I think there's a lot more than we think

all the good we as American's have done seems to be getting lost or not happening as much. Too much killing, hating and intolerance that's just gotta stop.

we are all really tired and need a break from this madness but there is so much work to do because it always seems like the neo-cons are fifty steps ahead of us and we haven't put are shoes on yet.
