3. Yes, pathetic. If I was a parent of a child who
is legitimately missing, I'd be incensed. And they just can't seem to let this story go. Truly disgusting.

5. Hold On...God Hasn't Spoken
Why do I get the feeling this babe will re-emerge as some poor victim of some savage "brown-skinned" person who she read bible passages to, and he let her escape. Yeah, that's the ticket!!

Or that it was her faith in god that saved her from this invader of our border...and how she prayed to god to save her from this heathen and she was delivered.

I smell a religious angle here...if anything for these bastards to try to tap dance their way out to the next sensational story.

13. You didn't have to use your nose.
With your ears, you could hear that the coverage of this story was heavy with religiousity.

17. I've Avoided This Circus
I only scan past CNNServative these days. I'll throw on Crapitol Gang just to see Novakula get beat up, but the marvels of digital cable and HDTV means more Discovery and Public Channels to choose from.

Yep...let's see..southern wife female (is she Baptist by chance???), small town (could they be heavily fundie???) a wedding (surely heterosexual) and now some abduction by an alien (Hispanic, Catholic). Yep, I smell a lot of religious angles that could be played here.

From what I can tell, this story isn't turning the way CNNServative wants...she'll be forgotten by Monday. Or maybe resurrected. Either way, I've got baseball and basketball to watch. I'll follow along with the lively commentary here.

6. What's with her bulging eyes?
Every picture of her I've ever seen it looks like she's got them stitched wide open. The top of her face and the bottom don't match up.

18. I have not followed this story, but that picture makes me think
she has a hyperactive thyroid condition.

If so, she could be subject to irrational panic attacks that can obliterate normal judgment.

7. Gigadittoes matcom. The media fails America
every day. The press is no longer on bended knee, it is bent over all the way to service the Republican "tops" -- ala 'Jeff Gannon"

The MSM fails shamefully in its role as messenger for America.

11. Okay--so here's the part I don't understand--
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 07:58 AM by Shopaholic
I can "get" that she had cold feet. I can understand how it might have been embarassing for her to admit that given the size of her wedding (600 guests? 14 bridesmaids and groomsmen?). But now the entire country knows that she bolted and why. So that's less embarassing than just cancelling the wedding and letting everyone in town know about it? OK--whatever. This is the part that I REALLY don't understand: Why do the authorities keep saying over and over again that they aren't going to charge her?

She made a false statement to police in NM when she was picked up, implicating an Hispanic male and a female. Shouldn't she face charges for that? Or is it that if you're affluent and white you get to make any false accusation you want to without fear of having to face the consequences?

21. I can understand why the NM police don't file charges
I don't think they spent much time looking for anyone. I'm pretty sure they saw holes in her story right away.

The Georgia police spent a lot of time on a manhunt, if she should face charges or fines anywhere, it should be there.

I feel sorry for the couple. How embarrassing for the groom. And I honestly don't think she thought this would be a national story. She got cold feet and bolted. She wasn't thinking.

The media on the other hand is going crazy. I fell asleep with CNN on. In the middle of the night she was found alive. Great. A few hours later, the truth comes out - she bolted. Tell us that and move on. This does not deserve wall to wall coverage.

I'm fine with a missing person being news - it can help find them. That's why they have Amber alerts. A runaway bride is NOT news. Find a real story people.

12. another question here
why was she so stressed and afraid to get married, there is something else going on. We should all take a big breather and stop judging people so quickly,as the MSM does. A much deeper story will develop.

16. Why was she stressed? It's NONE OF OUR BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!
And furthermore, I don't CARE if she was stessed, or if so, why she was stressed.

I have lots more important things to worry about than the prospects for marital happiness of people I do not know and will never meet.

Furthermore, the "news" business has far more important things to report on than the prospects for marital happiness of people none of us know and will never meet.

19. But the prosecutor that CNN had on was priceless.....
She was outraged that this Jennifer filed a false "missing person report," and that she needs to understand that is wrong.

What I would like to ask this alleged "prosecutor," is how in the Hell does a "missing person" actually file the "missing person report" themselves?:wtf:

Freaky.

And are her family really rrich? I hadn't picked up on that. THey talk like hayseeds and mention "the Lord" a lot. Doesn't sound "rich" to me. But of course the MSM fails. They always do.

27. A wedding consisting of 14 bridesmaids and 600 guests is
indicative of a faimly that is well off. The AVERAGE wedding with 150 to 250 guests is approximately $20,000 - I'd say someone is well off or willing to go deep in debt.

31. Latest Spin: Our Prayers Were Answered
The moron CNNServative reporter said he spoke with the family and said how "embarassed" about this. Then he spins "...24 hours ago the family was praying this was a runaway bride and now this is what it turned out to be". Yep, thank goodness CNNServative has found that silver lining...what a joke!

Now that they've trashed some lives and given some talking heads a place to bump their gums, time for this machine of mass distortion to move to its next victim.
