Poll question: Is Don Imus considered progressive? |
|
He gets the morning drive-time spot in Washington DC on 1260 AM (advertised as a "progressive" radio station).

23. His broadcasting days are numbered. He should have gone on -- |
|
to other things long ago.
I'd say he's NOT progressive, but he doesn't like Bush and I believe he supported Kerry in the last election.
I watch him on TV Fridays from 5AM to 6AM Pacific Time in the morning on MSNBC when I'm getting prepared for my audio show. Usually, I'll turn him off unless there's a good guest.
Can't stand the ugly bantering. Frankly, I've never seen anyone blasting his own support people and guests with such disgusting verbiage in my entire life. What is the draw from this man? He's toast in my opinion -- overcooked and overblown with himself.

13. I used to listen to him ever day for the past 5yrs, but after the election |
|
I've turned him off. He is nothing more than a brain fried old hack who is more concerned about himself than others. He does do a good job pretending, with his ranch but he is a self promoter period. As long as he lines his pockets he will shift with the wind.

26. He can't stop talking about himself and his ranch |
|
I know the ranch does great things for sick kids and their families but why does Imus have to CONSTANTLY talk about it. He's an egomaniac. I sometimes think that if he didn't have the forum of a live radio show to talk endlessly about his charity he wouldn't do anything charitable. It's all tied to his ability to talk about it.

We can judge people by their words, by their actions, or by a combination of the two. Don imus does things that most people are not aware of. He is progressive.

33. Often like watching a train wreck. |
|
You can't look away. The sportscaster, Sid, makes my flesh crawl. Charles is the biggest phony baloney on the show. The regular guests are mostly strange. The mafia dude is such a dunce, he can't speak a simple sentence. Imus thinks he's a genius because he's a self made millionaire. All kinds of ways to become a millionaire, Don. I do watch because I like the format; politicians and journalists and writers calling in for informal chat. And Imus is a very good interviewer in such a format. Progressive? I don't know. He is confusing. He loves The Daily Show, but then says stupid stuff like bush did a very good job the other night at the press conference. The whole country thinks he sunk like a rock, but Imus saw something else? I do think he looks for the good in people, and gets used because of it. Especially by his crew.

34. I'm a long time often disenchanted listener |
|
At one time this show was cutting edge, actually very similar to how we think of the Daily Show now. There were many humorous radio skits that skewered both the right snd the left.
Imus's problem is that it has become formulaic and rote and boring. Even the supposedly off-the-cuff banter seems scripted and tired. How many times can you hear them say "Why don't you just die you weasel " to one another?
Imus supposedly endorsed Kerry in the last election but hedged his support each and every day and probably did way more damage than harm to the Democratic candidate. He never seemed particularly well-informed about any particular issue (although right this moment he is very well informed about thimerisol and autism and is asking great questions - unfortunately, he's a one-trick pony on this one issue. Why can't he become just as informed about other compelling issues of the day? Overall I listen to him because I have no better options in my market, but if AA were here, I would drop him in a hearbeat. ( I loathe Bernard McGuirk and EVERYTHING he says on this show- like Charles and even Sid, hate Bo Dietl and his appearances)

The man is a kiss ass and will change his views on a whim depending on who is writing him err I mean his "ranch" the biggest check
I listened to him for the last 10 years, and stopped last week. He had an author on who wrote about Ben Franklin and other great early American leaders. First Imus said that there was noone like that today. Then he said he consideres some poeple not really in politics like entertainers to be like them. Then, like it was all scripted from the beginning, he compaired Bush to our founding fathers. I turned his show off forever at that point.
