Just a great moment here in my mom's house
I am down in the office banging away on the weekly update letter to the base/activists/fundraisers for Progressive Democrats of America.

My mom is upstairs on a conference call with one of the PDA crewleaders and a bunch of activists all across the country, organizing the Mother's March against the war that will roll from California to DC. More to follow once the details are nailed down.

The best way to fight despair, anger and frustration is to get the hell to work.

If you can get your mom to join in, so much the better. :)

2. Wish I could have my mom with me to work.
But, hell, she's the one who started me down this progressive path. Guess she is still with me every step of the way.

In her stead, I'll have to be a double mean mother against the war.

Those of you with moms still around, do em proud.

4. So you're getting a whole weekend of real food
Can't say I blame you.

I was hoping your mom would come down to Boston last weekend, she always strikes me as a cool lady.

(How is her kitchen coming?)

On a serious note, I think the tide might be turning. Bush is hardly popular at the moment. It's imperative that people get hit with the truth at every opportunity. The truth being heard WILL make a difference.

7. Cute story, Will
enjoy your time with your mom. :D

They are gone before we know it.

I'm an activist because of both of my parents. When I was 8, Mom took me to an NCAE (NC's NEA union) convention. THere was a real fear that there would be a strike come the fall. I learned all about conventions, precincts, who my reps were, the issues then....

When I was 11 and 12, we watched the Watergate hearings together and we sewed our clothes. Yes, this was real Mother Daughter bonding time. :D

Then there was the cartoon I drew of "Tricy Dicky" I drew one afternoon watching a press conference with my Dad. I don't remember if it was the resignation or not :D He laughed eventhough he was a Nixon guy.

I didn't learn until years later, mom and I were having one of those "what am I going to do with the rest of my life" convos, and she told me that dad told her: "Supernova ought to go into politics. I think she'd be good at that."

I was shocked :wow: because he was painfully shy and never said very much, often speaking through my mother. It was very gratifying to learn that he did understand me very well.

All this to say, parents can and do surprise us. Whatever I do today, I do to fight the good fight of cours, but also partly in remeberance of them.
