I'm boycotting Dominoes, too. |
|
I wasn't going to, because I usually think boycotts are silly and pointless, but after reading the essay about the Crusaders in Rolling Stone, I think a boycott is a moral imperative.
Apparently Dominoes supports the idea that churches should be free to engage in the political process and not jeapordize their tax-exempt status. If you read the essay, I think you'll want to boycott them, too.
You can find the essay in the DU editorials section.

It's kind of like cheesy cardboard, with Chef Boy-Ar-Dee thrown in for that extra culinary sizzle. :puke:

I am sure that there is a delicious pizza establishment that probably serves the best pizza.

that the name Domino was probably chosen for the Latin word meaning "Lord" and not the dotted rectangular game pieces.

4. I've been boycotting them for years. |
|
Ever since I found out about their activities. It's easy though, since their pizza isn't that great. I have also asked others NOT to order Domino's when they were going to and I was in the group.

5. Domino's can support their anti-choice |
|
and other causes without my contribution. I don't buy their crappy pizza and haven't for years (since I found out about their funding of anti-choice organizations)...but it's really not much of a decision since pizza alternatives are on every street corner.

7. I've boycotted them for years, too |
|
It makes no sense to give money to a company that will use those proceeds to attack my rights. I'm usually fairly casual about things like boycotts, but this one I've never, ever broken.
Plus, I'm saving myself from some pretty terrible pizza, so it's a win-win.

I haven't had Dominoes since I was a small child because their pizza gave my mother some really bad food poisoning. So saying that I'm "boycotting" them would be kind of pointless, wouldn't it?:puke:

10. I've been boycotting them for years, too, for so many reasons |
|
1. Monaghan uses his profits to fund all kinds of causes I don't like-anti abortion causes, his catholic law school, an organization to counter-act the ACLU, etc. 2. Domino's pizza sucks. 3. His Christmas display at Domino Farms every year wastes tons of elecricity. 4. He fired Ernie Harwell as the Tigers' announcer when he owned the team. Even if the last time they were in a World Series was when he owned the team (and they won it/1984), that was a completely unforgiveable act. He had to sell the team to Illitch after that, because Tigers' fans, conservative and liberal, were ready to lynch him.

11. I can't understand why anyone would order Domnio's |
|
It tastes terrible and I love pizza. It's considerably worse than any of the other cheap pizza chains. It's so bad, it makes Little Caesars taste like Gino's East by comparison. Blech.

12. I guess I'm boycotting them, but... |

mainly there are almost as many pizzerias around here as Chinese, and every one of them, and the frozen ones at Pathmark, are better.

Now we'll have to reevaluate.

15. Boycotts are pointless? So, supporting your enemies has a point? |
|
I don't understand your reasoning; personally, I try never to buy anything from the assholes that fuck my life up.
That said, thanks for posting this, I will post the essay in the DU Economic Activism Forum.

18. Haven't purchased a Domino's pizzia in over a decade. |
|
Ever since I heard about their support for Operation Rescue, and other fundie groups.
There are too many other pizza choices, and my mom and pop's around here need support too.
Besides, as others have said in this thread, Domino's pizza sucks anyway.
